Mechanical Engineer

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Engineer to join a specialist engineering and manufacturing business operating within the industrial process, energy and cryogenic technology sectors. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will play a key role in transforming process designs into practical mechanical solutions for manufacture and delivery to customers worldwide.

This position would suit a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate through to an engineer with a few years of industry experience looking to develop their technical expertise within a highly specialised engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop mechanical designs from process engineering specifications.

  • Produce 2D engineering drawings using AutoCAD.

  • Create 3D models and assemblies using Inventor or SolidWorks.

  • Design heat exchangers, piping systems, valves and associated mechanical equipment.

  • Generate manufacturing and assembly drawings for production.

  • Produce and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).

  • Assist with structural design of skids, pipework and supporting structures.

  • Prepare and update P&IDs and occasional basic electrical drawings.

  • Support material selection, equipment sourcing and project costing activities.

  • Ensure designs meet quality, inspection and engineering standards.

  • Collaborate with engineering, production and commercial teams on product development and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

We're interested in speaking with candidates who have:

  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Experience with AutoCAD and 3D CAD software such as Inventor or SolidWorks.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate engineering documentation.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.

  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Desirable but not essential:
  • Knowledge of fluid mechanics.

  • Experience of pressure vessel design.

  • Understanding of electrical schematics and P&IDs.

  • Previous experience within manufacturing, process engineering, energy, LNG, cryogenic or industrial equipment sectors.
