Concept Projects Group is looking for a proactive and motivated Mechanical Engineer to join our engineering project team.
This is a varied, hands\-on role supporting projects across a range of industrial and blue\-chip client sites, primarily across the Wirral and wider North West.
The role can vary from week to week. Some weeks may involve practical site\-based work, installation support, mechanical modifications, movement and positioning of equipment, and general project delivery. Other weeks may involve more detailed mechanical engineering work, problem\-solving, fabrication, technical support, design input and work from concept through to installation.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in fast\-paced client environments, including FMCG, food production, pharmaceutical, packaging, construction, manufacturing and wider industrial settings.
This role would suit someone with strong practical mechanical skills, good technical understanding, and the flexibility to support a wide range of mechanical tasks across live client sites.
Responsibilities Include
- Support mechanical activities across industrial and blue\-chip client sites
- Provide practical mechanical engineering solutions from design through to installation
- Maintain, repair and modify manufacturing equipment, production machinery and mechanical systems
- Repair and overhaul mechanical items including motors, pumps, valves, bearings, shafts and rotating equipment
- Carry out fitting, fabrication, bench work, assembly and mechanical modification tasks
- Assemble and fit mechanical components and systems in line with technical drawings
- Carry out mechanical snagging and improvement works within manufacturing and production line environments
- Work with site utilities including compressed air, steam and water systems, within agreed limits of design and competence
- Operate or support the use of fabrication and workshop equipment, including cutting, welding, drilling and machining tools
- Use, or be trained to use, plant and access equipment such as FLTs, MEWPs, scissor lifts and other site equipment
- Support Project Managers, client teams and site personnel during project delivery
- Ensure all work is carried out safely and in line with client site rules, company procedures, industry regulations and quality standards
- Communicate professionally with clients, Project Managers and other site personnel
- Previous experience in a similar hands\-on mechanical role
- Recognised apprenticeship or time\-served background in mechanical engineering or a related engineering discipline
- Strong hand tool skills, including bench fitting
- Strong understanding of machining processes
- Strong understanding of engineering material properties
- Strong understanding of engineering design principles
- Strong problem\-solving, Root Cause Analysis and Continuous Improvement skills
- Strong understanding of working safely and risk perception
- Strong understanding of reading technical drawings, including CAD drawings where required
- Experience working with pumps, motors, rotating equipment and general mechanical systems
- Experience working with manufacturing lines
- Experience working in fast\-paced industrial environments, such as FMCG, food production, pharmaceutical, packaging, construction or manufacturing
- Experience of good engineering practices
- Ability to work to tight deadlines
- Ability to work well as part of a team
- Ability to work well independently with a brief from the client or Project Manager
- Ability to organise sub\-componentry for assemblies where required
- Ability to design bespoke solutions for the client or the needs of a Project Manager
- Good communication skills, as this will be a client\-facing role
- Basic Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to write reports and interact with spreadsheets
- Experience working from MEWPs and scissor lifts
- Experience working in a blue\-chip factory environment
- IOSH certification
- Remuneration package: £40,000 to £50,000 per year, dependent on experience
