The Opportunity

As a Designer, you will be responsible for developing and refining designs that drive innovation and efficiency across our various work programmes. This position ensures that all designs meet the highest standards of quality, functionality, and manufacturability, supporting PWR's commitment to excellence.

Specific Duties of Role

Design \& Development:

• Create new or revised designs using advanced 2D \& 3D design skills, particularly in SolidWorks.


• Reverse engineer solutions from customer\-supplied geometry and models to address specific project challenges.


• Perform low\-level simulation tasks using the integrated tools in SolidWorks to validate design concepts.

Collaboration \& Communication:

• Participate in discussions with various departments to align CNC programming and manufacturing processes with design outputs.


• Ensure designs are efficient, fit\-for\-purpose, and conform to PWR's manufacturing capabilities.


• Negotiate with external suppliers and create necessary documentation for the procurement of manufacturing parts.

Documentation \& System Maintenance:

• Create detailed bills of materials (BOMs) for manufactured components.


• Maintain accurate records in MRP and ERP systems to ensure seamless production processes.


• Implement and maintain workplace systems and work instructions in compliance with AS9100 and ISO9001 standards.

Project Support:

• Assist in prioritising work and managing workflows to support overall project plans.


• Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes that enhance production capabilities and efficiency.

Health \& Safety

• Ensure compliance with all WHS policies as outlined in the HR Manual and Employment Policy guide.


• Participate and contribute in all WHS Toolbox meetings.


• Participate in department WHS, Fire and Evacuation and Emergency training.


• Demonstrate a high degree of safety awareness.

Key Competencies

• Commitment to safety, quality, and excellent attention to detail.


• SolidWorks Proficiency: High\-level skills and experience in SolidWorks (preferred) or similar 3D CAD packages.


• Engineering or Industrial Design degree or diploma is advantageous.


• Experience in designing jigs and fixtures is advantageous.


• Experience in sheet metal design is advantageous.


• Field Knowledge \& Engineering Principles: Ability to apply relevant industry knowledge and engineering principles to ensure best practice designs.


• Strong problem\-solving skills with the ability to work effectively under pressure.


• Self\-motivated with the ability to monitor personal workload and mentor peer designers.


• Driven and passionate about the industry, with a strong commitment to your work.


• Ability to effectively prioritize internal customer requirements.


• Hands\-On Approach: Possess a hands\-on attitude and willingness to support other teams to ensure the success of our work programmes.
