Purpose of the Role

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for producing accurate and practical mechanical designs to support the manufacture of the company’s products and projects.

The role will involve the creation of 3D models, detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD Mechanical.

Working closely with the engineering and production teams, the Mechanical Design Engineer will ensure designs are technically accurate, suitable for manufacture and meet customer, project and company requirements. The role will also involve developing new designs, modifying existing products and providing technical support throughout the manufacturing process.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed 3D models and assemblies using Autodesk Inventor


• Produce accurate 2D manufacturing drawings


• Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)


• Produce and modify drawings using AutoCAD Mechanical


• Develop designs from customer requirements, specifications and existing drawings


• Produce fabrication and assembly drawings suitable for manufacture


• Ensure drawings contain appropriate dimensions, tolerances, materials and manufacturing information


• Revise and update existing designs and drawings where required


• Work closely with the production team to ensure designs are practical and suitable for manufacture


• Assist with resolving design and manufacturing issues


• Maintain accurate drawing revisions and engineering documentation


• Ensure designs meet relevant customer, quality and engineering requirements

• Degree in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.


• Extensive industrial engineering experience.


• Excellent communication skills.

• Microsoft Office


• Autodesk AutoCAD


• Autodesk Inventor

• Methodical and detail\-oriented with a high level of accuracy


• Practical approach to mechanical design and problem\-solving


• Able to work independently and use initiative


• Strong organisational and time\-management skills


• Able to manage multiple projects and changing priorities


• Good communication skills and comfortable working closely with production, engineering and other departments


• Proactive in identifying and resolving design or manufacturing issues


• Willing to learn and develop knowledge of the company’s products and manufacturing processes
