Overview
The Materials Control Operative is responsible for the effective control, movement, and availability of materials to support operational requirements. The role ensures accurate stock management, timely issue of materials, compliance with procedures, and efficient use of systems to maintain continuity of supply and cost control.
Key Responsibilities
Materials \& Stock Control
- Receive, check, and book in materials accurately using company systems
- Store materials safely and efficiently in designated locations
- Issue materials in line with production or operational requirements
- Carry out regular stock checks and cycle counts, investigating discrepancies
- Trigger replenishment actions in line with agreed minimum and maximum level
- Inspect deliveries for accuracy, damage, and compliance with purchase orders
- Liaise with suppliers and internal departments to resolve delivery issues
- Prepare materials for internal distribution or external dispatch as required
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe materials control area
- Operate in line with health and safety procedures at all times
- Carry out manual handling and forklift operations safely (where trained)
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and audit requirements
Essential
- Experience working in a stores, materials control, logistics, or warehouse environment
- Good attention to detail and accuracy
- Basic IT skills, including experience using stock or inventory systems
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities
- Good communication skills
- Forklift truck licence
- Previous experience in materials planning or inventory control
- Understanding of production or operational environments
- Organised and methodical
- Reliable and punctual
- Proactive and solution‑focused
- Team‑oriented with a flexible approach to workloads
Monday to Thursday 06:40am \- 16:45pm (38 hours \& 30 minutes per week)
Pay: £27,500\.00 per year
