Marketing Lead
About Dévorer
We look like catering. We're software.
Dévorer is a demand\-intelligence platform that predicts what to serve, where, and at what price, then rotates the right vendors into the right institutional sites to match. Think Uber for contract catering: we don't own the kitchens any more than Uber owns the cars. We own the data layer and the marketplace that moves supply to demand in real time, across campuses, offices, and residential developments.
The catering industry is enormous, analogue, and run on gut feel and decade\-old contracts. We're the intelligence layer on top of it. Over 600 vendors onboarded, 24 live paying sites, 40 contracted, scaling to 200\+. We work alongside the giants (Aramark, Sodexo, Compass, Elior) and blue\-chip sites like PwC, Lloyds, NHS, and Imperial College London.
Built over 16 months, fully bootstrapped, by two founders who've known each other since childhood and built and sold a marketplace together once already.
The role
You'd be our first marketing hire, and your single most important job is telling the story: that Dévorer is a tech company disguised as catering.
That's harder than it sounds. Everyone we talk to (vendors, sites, operators, investors) sees food first. Your job is to make them see the software. The prediction engine. The marketplace mechanics. The data moat. You'll take a proposition that looks like lunch and make people understand it's infrastructure.
You'll own the marketing function end to end, with a direct line to the founders and a blank page. No team under you yet, so a lot of doing before delegating. If you want to define how a category\-defining company sounds before anyone else has framed it, this is that.
What you'll do
Marketing at Dévorer splits into two workstreams. You own both.
*1\. Company marketing: brand, message, recognition*
Getting Dévorer's story out and growing recognition across every channel.
- Own the narrative. "Uber for contract catering" gets you in the room. You'll build the full story that closes: how the data works, why the marketplace compounds, what makes us defensible. Make software the hero, not the food.
- Reframe the category. We're not competing on catering; we're a new layer above it. You'll define that positioning and make the market believe it.
- Grow our channels. LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, website, email: whatever earns its place. Build the audience, invest, then prove it worked.
- Build brand from scratch. Voice, positioning, visual consistency. Make a look into a brand, one that reads "tech," not "food service."
- Build the vendor\-acquisition engine. Vendors are half our marketplace: reach, convince, and onboard them at volume.
- Arm enterprise sales. Proposals, case studies, decks that win institutional contracts. Our Imperial case study is the anchor. You'll build the library.
Marketing our live operations directly to the people inside the organisations we serve: Imperial College London, Lloyds Bank, Clockwise coworking spaces, and every site that follows.
- Launch every new site. Own the go\-live plan: on\-site presence, comms to staff and students, first\-week momentum.
- Drive app downloads, footfall, and repeat spend. The Dévorer app is how people order at every site. Market it hard, online and in person. Vendor rotations, menu drops, promotions, and loyalty all run through it. Get in front of people on the ground and get us as many downloads as you can.
- Run site\-specific channels. Client intranets, internal newsletters, building screens, on\-site signage, campus and workplace social groups.
- Work with the client. Partner with each site's facilities, comms, and student\-union or HR teams so Dévorer becomes part of how the building runs.
- Adapt to every site. No two sites market the same way: a university, a bank, and a coworking space each need their own creative approach, delivered with the same consistency. Turn site wins into case studies that close the next contract.
Who this is for
- You've marketed at an early\-stage startup (ideally B2B tech, marketplace, or SaaS). You've told a hard\-to\-explain story before and made it land.
- You can write. Clearly, no jargon, no filler.
- You think in narrative and numbers: positioning and CAC, brand and funnels.
- You're comfortable on the ground as well as online: turning up at a site, talking to the people who eat there, and fixing what isn't working that week.
- You've maybe worked somewhere that had to reframe how a market saw it, sold software into an analogue industry, or repositioned a "boring" business as a tech one. That's the exact muscle we need.
- You move fast and ship. Bonus: food, hospitality, or procurement exposure, enough to be dangerous, not so much you think like an incumbent.
- £35–40k base salary, depending on experience.
- Generous bonus and commission payouts: your upside is tied to what you build. Hit the numbers and you earn against them.
- £10k salary increase in year one, subject to hitting agreed KPIs.
- Total ownership of the marketing function and a real say in company direction.
- Direct work with the founders, no layers.
