Job Description

PURPOSE

The maternity cover role is accountable to the Chief Revenue Officer for leading delivery of the ECB’s 2027 marketing priorities and growth agenda. The role is responsible for directing the marketing strategy of all ECB brands and competitions, growing the long\-term value of England Cricket, ECB brands, audiences and competitions across England Cricket, The Hundred, Domestic Cricket and Recreational Cricket. This includes audience growth, brand development, commercial partner activations, customer engagement and commercial value creation. The role has responsibility for all ECB marketing spend, agency partnerships and a team of six.

The successful applicant will possess strong strategic vision and experience of building audience\-led growth strategies, leading major brands and delivering measurable commercial outcomes. They will be responsible for progressing a defined one\-year strategic agenda and maintaining momentum across key growth initiatives during a critical period for the game. This role will work closely with stakeholders across Insight, Commercial Partnerships, Content, Digital, Communications, Insights and all 18 Professional Counties to deliver a unified approach to audience growth and fan engagement.

The Marketing Director will be accountable for refining and delivering the vision, priorities and support services for all marketing activity across cricket in England and Wales during 2027, including the Ashes, while shaping the strategic direction for 2028 within the framework of the existing 2026\-2029 marketing strategy. Working in collaboration with strategic partners and agencies, including Two Circles, they will enable teams and venues to deliver sustainable audience growth, attendance, engagement and revenue.

The primary goal is the growth of cricket audiences, fan engagement and commercial value through audience\-led marketing, brand development, and data\-informed decision making across England Cricket, The Hundred, Domestic Cricket and Recreational Cricket.

YOU’LL BE DOING

Overseeing the overall marketing strategy for England Cricket, The Hundred and all domestic competitions, as well as with key recreational cricket initiatives.

Driving marketing discipline across the cricket network, establishing and securing buy\-in for the growth of every competition through acquisition, retention and customer growth.

Defining audience growth priorities and supporting delivery of the ECB’s 2027 strategic marketing agenda

Devising, communicating and ‘landing' sales windows and on\-sale periods across the calendar, for all competitions.

Supporting on event strategy and objectives along with the events team, aligned to ECB’s Inspiring Generations vision

Leading marketing initiatives that accelerate growth in women’s cricket audiences, attendance and engagement

Partnering with Content, Communications, Digital, Data and Commercial teams to deliver integrated content\-led marketing programmes.

Supporting commercial teams in ideating brand activation campaigns, partnership packages, maximising partnership, licensing and marketing opportunities

Overseeing delivery of strategic initiatives that improve customer experience, engagement and marketing effectiveness, including Cricket Live

Directing all Team Marketing Services (the initiative to support Counties marketing strategies) resources in partnership with Two Circles, to achieve agreed audience and commercial goals

Accountable for reviewing and approving advertising campaigns, marketing reports, partner contracts, billing and departmental expenditure

Accountable for the recruitment, management and development of personnel within the marketing team.

YOU’LL HAVE

An analytical and creative mindset

Deep understanding of audiences and consumer brands and fan behaviour

Experience developing and leading national brand and audience growth strategies.

Experience delivering insight\-led marketing programmes, commercial partner packages and measurable commercial outcomes

Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across complex organisations

Knowledgeable in a variety of disciplines including sales, marketing, sports sponsorship

Familiarity with legal agreements and commercial contracts

Experience leading agency and strategic partner relationships
