Manufacturing Sales Engineer
We’re looking for a Manufacturing Sales Engineer to join our team in Coalville.
This is a hands\-on, varied role where you’ll get to know our customers, work closely with people across the business and have a real influence on how projects come together.
About R D Moore Ltd
We are a family\-run sheet\-metal manufacturing business based in Coalville, Leicestershire, with more than 35 years' experience helping customers turn ideas, drawings and designs into high\-quality manufactured products.
Working with mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium, we support everything from prototypes and small production runs through to larger batch manufacturing. Our capabilities cover the full manufacturing journey, including CAD design and development, laser profiling, forming, MIG and TIG welding, finishing and assembly.
As a small business, we work closely together. We value practical thinking, good communication and people who are happy to get involved, share ideas and help find the right solutions to deliver quality, precision and value for our customers.
Role and Responsibilities
As our Manufacturing Sales Engineer, you’ll be an important link between our customers and our production team.
You’ll take the time to understand what customers are trying to achieve, turn their requirements into practical manufacturing solutions and prepare accurate, competitive quotations.
Once a quotation is submitted, you’ll stay in touch with the customer, answer questions and help move projects successfully towards production.
Your day\-to\-day responsibilities will include:
- Preparing quotations with material, manufacturing and labour cost estimates.
- Talking directly with new and existing customers to understand their technical and commercial requirements.
- Following up quotations, gathering feedback and helping convert opportunities into orders.
- Working with production, shop floor and quality colleagues to make sure designs are practical and cost\-effective to manufacture.
- Attending customer meetings and site visits when needed.
- Reviewing actual project costs against estimates so we can continuously improve future quotations.
You will be someone who likes taking ownership while still having people around them to bounce ideas off. You don’t need to know everything on day one. What matters is that you understand manufacturing, communicate clearly with people and can confidently manage a varied workload.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has good practical knowledge of sheet\-metal fabrication, manufacturing processes, materials and production methods.
- Has strong general IT skills, including Microsoft 365, and is comfortable using or learning CAD and other manufacturing software.
- Can confidently read and understand engineering drawings, specifications and technical information.
- Is comfortable talking with customers about both technical requirements and commercial considerations.
- Is organised, with excellent attention to detail and the ability to keep several enquiries moving at once.
- Asks questions when needed and enjoys working as part of a small team.
- A relevant qualification in manufacturing, industrial engineering or a related field.
- Experience with manufacturing estimating or cost estimation.
- Experience using 2D or 3D CAD software.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems or manufacturing workflows.
- Experience using project management tools.
- £37,000\-£40,000 per annum, depending on experience.
- 39\-hour working week with a 1pm finish on Fridays.
- 33 days paid holiday (including bank holidays).
- Voluntary overtime available.
- Company pension scheme.
- Free on\-site parking.
If you have experience in sheet\-metal fabrication or manufacturing and like the idea of a role that combines engineering, estimating, customer relationships and practical problem\-solving, we’d like to hear from you.
You may come from a design, manufacturing, estimating, engineering or technical sales background. We’re more interested in the relevant skills and experience you can bring than whether your career has followed one particular route. We welcome applications from people with different backgrounds and experiences who believe they could make a positive contribution to our team.
No agencies please.
