MANAGERS IN TRANSPORT AND DISTRIBUTION

Job Summary

We are seeking experienced Managers in Transport and Distribution to oversee and optimise logistics operations within our organisation. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing transportation activities, supervising teams, and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency across the supply chain. This role requires a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of logistics systems, and a comprehensive understanding of warehouse management and shipping procedures. The position offers an opportunity to lead dynamic teams and contribute to the continuous improvement of our distribution network.

Duties

• Oversee daily transportation and distribution operations, ensuring timely delivery and compliance with safety standards.


• Supervise and lead teams involved in shipping, receiving, warehouse management, and logistics functions.


• Utilise transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and AS400 to coordinate activities effectively.


• Manage relationships with third\-party logistics providers (3PL) to optimise service levels and cost\-efficiency.


• Monitor profit \& loss statements related to transport activities, identifying areas for cost reduction and process optimisation.


• Implement process improvements aimed at enhancing operational efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction.


• Ensure proper utilisation of equipment such as forklifts and adherence to warehouse safety protocols.


• Coordinate shipping schedules, inventory management, and stock control using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).


• Analyse logistics data to identify trends, forecast needs, and support strategic planning within the supply chain.


• Maintain compliance with industry regulations and company policies related to transportation and distribution.

Experience

• Proven supervisory experience within transport, logistics or warehouse environments.


• Strong understanding of profit \& loss management in a logistics context.


• Experience with process improvement initiatives in supply chain or distribution operations.


• Proficiency in transportation management systems (TMS), ERP systems, WMS, AS400, and other relevant software such as continuous improvement tools.


• Knowledge of 3PL services, shipping \& receiving procedures, and warehouse management practices.


• Familiarity with forklift operation and warehouse safety standards is desirable.


• Demonstrated ability to lead teams effectively while maintaining high standards of efficiency and safety.


• Previous experience working within a logistics or supply chain environment is essential for success in this role.
