We’re currently seeking an experienced professional to join our team in the role of Manager, Leveraged Finance Origination. This role will be based out of 1 Centenary Square, Birmingham.

The HSBC UK Leveraged Finance business is a market leader. We work together to deliver on four key areas: Origination, Execution, Financial Sponsor Coverage \& Client Coverage. The customer base is varied and the team is sector agnostic, but most customers are categorised by their Private Equity (PE) ownership rather than size of turnover (clients span the full range from £10m T/O to \>£1bn T/O).

Within Leveraged Finance, the LFO team will originate the financing opportunity and then structure the facilities, oversee the due diligence process, obtain the necessary internal approvals including credit approval and negotiate the legal documentation that enables the arranging of the debt financing to support a private equity led investment or acquisition.

In this role you’ll:

  • Proactively and frequently be involved in the regional Mergers \& Acquisitions (M\&A) market

  • Develop a network of peers across the Corporate Finance community to build upon your business development skills

  • Learn and assist in negotiations, discussions and pitches with Sponsors, M\&A advisers, clients and prospective clients

  • Develop your credit analysis skills, including reviewing due diligence reports and becoming adept at financial modelling using our in\-house model

  • Work closely as part of a team to structure and deliver credit facilities for transactions

  • Collaborate with other Leveraged Finance offices or other business teams to ensure deadlines and key milestones are met

  • Share and develop best practice with others to ensure that the team maximises performance, meets the required standards, and continuously develops capabilities and experience

  • Actively participate in constructive cross\-country and cross\-business teamwork that enables delivery of the financial growth plan for the UK business, whilst promoting and demonstrating the values of HSBC and its Charter

  • Achieve a Certificate in Corporate Finance qualification within 12 months of starting in the role
To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:
  • Experience and knowledge of structured finance, leveraged finance, corporate finance or a closely related M\&A role

  • Enjoy analysing financial and commercial information to identify the key aspects and summarising it succinctly and effectively

  • Understand how the commercial aspects of a business’ operations or its sector may influence financial performance

  • Strong relationship building and networking skills

  • Be adaptable to working styles and patterns as you work with different individuals

  • Be comfortable in asking questions of people more senior than you or with more experience than you

  • Competent in using MS Office (e.g. Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.)

  • Enjoy working in a fast\-paced environment at times

  • Have a self\-start attitude
