About Arcane
Arcane is a multi\-use hospitality space blending specialty coffee, focaccia sandwiches, cocktails, and curated events. We’re about quality, atmosphere, and experience \- from daytime coffee regulars to evening events and private hires.
We’re looking for an experienced, organised, and people\-focused General Manager to lead day\-to\-day operations and help Arcane grow as a destination venue.
The Role
As General Manager, you’ll be responsible for the smooth running of the venue across service, staff, events, and compliance. You’ll lead from the front, set standards, and ensure Arcane delivers consistently excellent experiences — whether it’s a busy lunch service, a cocktail night, or a private event.
This is a hands\-on role that blends operations, leadership, and creativity.
Key Responsibilities
Operations \& Service
- Oversee daily opening and closing procedures
- Ensure high standards of service across coffee, food, cocktails, and events
- Maintain venue presentation, cleanliness, and atmosphere at all times
- Manage stock levels, ordering, wastage, and supplier relationships
- Plan, organise, and run events (private hires, ticketed events, brand collaborations, live music, etc.)
- Coordinate event logistics including staffing, setup, breakdown, and guest experience
- Act as the main point of contact for event clients and partners
- Work with owners to develop the events calendar and increase venue revenue
- Recruit, train, and develop bar, kitchen, and events staff
- Create and manage staff rotas in line with business needs and budgets
- Lead by example on shift — motivating, coaching, and supporting the team
- Handle performance management, absence, and disciplinary matters professionally
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, health \& hygiene, and licensing laws
- Maintain up\-to\-date HACCP procedures, cleaning schedules, and safety checks
- Ensure staff are properly trained in food safety, allergen awareness, and safe working practices
- Manage EHO visits and audits confidently and proactively
- Monitor labour costs and support budget management
- Complete basic reporting (sales, staffing, events performance)
- Work closely with owners to identify opportunities for improvement and growth
- Proven experience managing a hospitality venue (coffee shop, bar, restaurant, or event space)
- Strong understanding of food safety, health \& hygiene, and licensing
- Experience running or coordinating events is essential
- Confident leader with excellent communication and organisational skills
- Calm under pressure, detail\-oriented, and solutions\-focused
- Passion for quality hospitality and guest experience
Pay: £15\.50\-£17\.00 per hour
