At SynergyLMS, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional service and solutions to our clients. We are looking for a practical and reliable Engineer Support to work alongside our Maintenance Engineer in Sheffield.
The Engineer Support role provides practical and administrative support to the Engineering team to help ensure the safe, reliable and efficient operation of site equipment, machinery and facilities. Working closely with Engineers, Engineering Management and Operations, the role will support planned and reactive maintenance activities, engineering compliance, parts and stock management, contractor coordination and general engineering activities.
The role is intended to enable qualified Engineers to focus on skilled engineering and maintenance activities by providing effective day\-to\-day support.
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: Monday to Friday, 15:00–23:30
Contract: Permanent
Key Responsibilities
Engineering Support
- Provide day\-to\-day support to the Engineering team across site.
- Assist Engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities where appropriate and within competence.
- Support preparation of equipment, tools and materials required for maintenance activities.
- Assist with basic maintenance and engineering activities for which appropriate training and competency have been demonstrated.
- Support Engineers during equipment breakdowns and repairs.
- Help maintain good housekeeping standards within engineering workshops, stores and plant areas.
- Ensure engineering tools and equipment are appropriately stored and available for use.
- Maintain appropriate engineering spare\-parts stock levels.
- Receive, check and correctly store engineering parts and consumables.
- Issue parts and maintain accurate stock records.
- Support regular engineering stock checks.
- Identify low\-stock and critical\-spares requirements and escalate these to the Engineering Manager.
- Assist with obtaining quotations and raising purchase requests/orders in accordance with company procedures.
- Support the administration of the site's planned preventative maintenance programme.
- Maintain accurate engineering records and documentation.
- Assist with updating the engineering maintenance system/CMMS.
- Record completed maintenance activities and associated documentation where required.
- Support the scheduling and coordination of planned maintenance activities.
- Support the coordination of external engineering contractors attending site.
- Ensure contractors follow site sign\-in, induction and safety requirements.
- Maintain contractor and engineering documentation as required.
- Support statutory inspections, servicing and compliance activities.
- Assist with maintaining engineering records for audits and inspections.
- Work in accordance with all company Health \& Safety procedures.
- Follow appropriate safe systems of work, risk assessments, permits and isolation/LOTO procedures.
- Immediately report hazards, defects, near misses and unsafe conditions.
- Never undertake engineering activities outside the individual's training, authorisation or demonstrated competence.
- Support the Engineering team in maintaining a safe, organised and compliant working environment.
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Production/Operations and other site functions.
- Communicate equipment and maintenance issues appropriately.
- Support site improvement and engineering projects.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications and improvement activities within the individual's level of competence.
- Undertake other reasonable engineering\-support activities consistent with the nature and level of the role.

- Willingness to undertake relevant technical and safety training.
- Previous experience within an engineering, manufacturing, production, laundry, logistics or similar operational environment.
- Experience of engineering stores or spare\-parts management.
- Experience using a CMMS or maintenance management system.
- Basic mechanical or electrical knowledge.
- Relevant engineering or technical qualification.
