iCAM is recruiting a Maintenance Engineer who will be responsible for maintaining the safe, reliable and efficient operation of iCAM Engineering’s production equipment and site facilities. The role will deliver planned, preventive and reactive maintenance across CNC machine tools, welding equipment, extraction systems, utilities and general building services, while coordinating equipment calibration and supporting continuous improvement to minimise downtime and protect product quality.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

· Plan and complete scheduled preventive maintenance for CNC lathes, machining centres and associated production equipment.

· Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic and basic control\-system faults, restoring equipment safely and promptly.

· Maintain welding sets, wire\-feed units, torches, water\-cooling units, extraction equipment and related accessories in accordance with manufacturer requirements.

· Coordinate and, where competent and authorised, complete the inspection, testing and calibration of welding equipment, measuring instruments, gauges and other controlled devices.

· Maintain an accurate calibration register, ensure certificates remain current and traceable, identify equipment approaching expiry, and quarantine any item found outside tolerance.

· Carry out routine inspections, cleaning, lubrication, alignment checks and condition monitoring to identify deterioration before failure occurs.

· Respond to breakdowns, investigate recurring faults and apply effective root\-cause corrective actions to improve reliability and reduce unplanned downtime.

· Record all planned and reactive work, parts used, findings and follow\-up actions within the maintenance system or relevant site records.

· Maintain suitable stocks of critical spares, consumables and maintenance tools, raising purchase requests where required.

· Support the installation, relocation, commissioning and safe handover of new or modified machinery and services.

· Complete general site duties, including minor repairs to buildings, doors, lighting, plumbing, compressed\-air services, racking and workplace fixtures, within the limits of competence.

· Coordinate specialist contractors, provide site inductions as required and monitor work to ensure compliance with iCAM Engineering procedures.

· Work closely with Production, Quality and SHEQ teams to plan maintenance around operational priorities and minimise disruption.

· Contribute to continuous\-improvement, energy\-efficiency, housekeeping and 5S activities across the site.

· Provide clear technical advice to equipment users and promote correct daily operator checks and basic equipment care.

· Undertake other reasonable engineering and facilities duties consistent with the post holder’s skills, training and competence.

Health, Safety and Compliance

· Carry out maintenance only when suitably trained, competent and authorised, following approved risk assessments, safe systems of work and permit arrangements.

· Apply effective isolation and lock\-off procedures before working on machinery, stored energy or electrical systems, and verify that equipment is safe before work begins.

· Ensure work equipment is maintained in an efficient state, in efficient working order and in good repair, with maintenance logs kept current.

· Complete pre\-use and post\-maintenance checks, refit guards and safety devices, and formally return equipment to service only after confirming safe operation.

· Report hazards, defects, near misses and incidents promptly, and support investigations and corrective actions.

· Maintain good housekeeping and control tools, oils, chemicals, welding components and waste in accordance with site procedures.

· Comply with applicable requirements, including PUWER, COSHH, electrical safety arrangements and any relevant statutory inspection schemes.

Qualifications and Experience

· Recognised time\-served engineering apprenticeship or Level 3 qualification in mechanical, electrical, mechatronic or maintenance engineering.

· Proven maintenance experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment.

· Practical experience of fault\-finding and maintaining CNC machine tools and associated systems.

· Experience servicing welding equipment and an understanding of safe electrical and mechanical testing practices.

· Experience managing calibration schedules, certificates and traceability records.

· Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics and manufacturers’ technical manuals.

· Sound understanding of planned preventive maintenance and accurate maintenance record keeping.

· Electrical qualification, PLC or CNC control\-system experience, and knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens or similar controls are desirable.

· Experience with compressed\-air systems, extraction, lifting equipment or facilities maintenance is desirable.

· Full UK driving licence is desirable.

Skills and Competencies

· Strong fault\-finding, problem\-solving and root\-cause analysis skills.

· A safety\-focused approach with the confidence to stop work where conditions are unsafe.

· Ability to prioritise competing demands and respond calmly to production breakdowns.

· Good organisational skills and attention to detail, particularly when maintaining calibration and service records.

· Clear communication and the ability to work effectively with operators, managers, contractors and suppliers.

· Self\-motivated, dependable and able to work independently while contributing positively to the wider team.

· Comfortable using digital maintenance systems, spreadsheets and standard Microsoft Office applications.

Working Conditions

The role is primarily site\-based within an active manufacturing environment and will involve standing, walking, bending and accessing machinery for inspection and repair. Appropriate personal protective equipment must be worn. Reasonable flexibility may be required to support planned shutdowns, urgent breakdowns or maintenance outside normal production hours.

Pay: £45,000\.00\-£55,000\.00 per year
