About Us
Connor (South West) Construction Ltd provides specialist plant, surfacing machinery, and operational support across the UK’s highways network. As a Low Loader Driver, you’ll be responsible for transporting heavy plant and machinery safely and efficiently, ensuring our operational teams have the equipment they need on time and in the right place.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate low loader vehicles in line with company procedures and legal requirements
- Transport plant, machinery, and specialist surfacing equipment to and from sites
- Carry out daily vehicle and trailer checks, reporting defects promptly
- Load, secure, and unload plant safely in accordance with LOLER/PUWER and company standards
- Maintain accurate transport and movement documentation
- Plan routes effectively, considering height, weight, and access restrictions
- Communicate clearly with site teams, the transport office, and clients
- Adhere to driving hours, tachograph rules, and company policies
- Maintain high standards of safety, cleanliness, and professionalism
- Represent the company positively while on site and on the road
- Carry out any other duties as required by the Transport Manager
We’re seeking an experienced Low Loader Driver with a strong understanding of plant transport and construction logistics. You’ll hold a Category C\+E (Class 1\) licence, Driver CPC, and digital tachograph card. Experience transporting plant or heavy machinery is essential.
Training such as NPORS Plant Loader \& Securer (N120\) or equivalent is desirable, along with a solid understanding of safe loading, securing, and unloading procedures.
You’ll be safety‑conscious, reliable, and professional, with a flexible approach to working hours and nationwide travel.
