Job Purpose

This is a great opportunity within the core of Logistics and Final Mile functions within a large e\-retailer. You will gain hands\-on experience across planning, reverse logistics, continual improvement and invoicing, working on live business challenges that affect customers, colleagues, carriers and cost. This opportunity is designed to build your commercial understanding, analytical capability and operational judgement. You will be supported in your learning, but you will also be expected to get involved, ask good questions, take ownership and help turn ideas into measurable improvements. A fantastic role for an ambitious graduate looking to develop in their career.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Rotate through core Logistics and Final Mile functions, developing a rounded understanding of the end\-to\-end delivery and returns journey.

  • Work alongside operational teams, carriers and support functions to understand how orders move from despatch through to delivery, collection, return or resolution.

  • Use data to investigate service, cost and process issues, identify the underlying cause and recommend practical next steps.

  • Support day\-to\-day planning and coordination activity, helping the team respond when demand, capacity or operational priorities change.

  • Assist with reverse\-logistics activity, including returns, collections, damages, losses, stock recovery and the resolution of ageing exceptions.

  • Support carrier and supplier invoice checks by validating charges, investigating exceptions and helping ensure costs are complete and accurate.

  • Take part in continual\-improvement projects from initial problem definition through analysis, testing, implementation and review.

  • Create and maintain clear reports, trackers, process maps and action logs that help teams make decisions and follow commitments through.

  • Spend time in the warehouse and with delivery operations to understand processes first\-hand and test whether proposed solutions will work in practice.

  • Build productive relationships with colleagues across Logistics, Warehousing, Customer Services, Finance, Commercial and Technology.

  • Prepare concise updates and presentations that explain findings, risks, recommendations and results to both operational and management audiences.

  • Learn the systems used across the department and become confident working with operational data from different sources.

  • Take responsibility for defined pieces of work, manage deadlines and escalate early when information, support or decisions are needed.

  • Contribute to peak planning, operational reviews and other cross\-functional priorities across the Logistics and Final Mile area.

  • Progressively take ownership of more complex work as your knowledge and confidence develop, building towards responsibility for a key process, project or performance area.
Skills and Experience (Behaviours, Essential skills vs Desirable)
  • Naturally curious and analytical: able to structure an unclear problem, work through evidence and explain what is driving the outcome.

  • Confident using Excel, including pivot tables, lookups, charts, basic modelling and data cleansing.

  • Tenacious and accountable: follows work through, chases missing information and takes personal responsibility for delivering an outcome.

  • Energetic and resilient, with the willingness to handle urgent, repetitive or less visible tasks as well as larger projects.

  • Clear and credible communicator who can adapt their style for operational colleagues, external partners and managers.

  • Good commercial and customer judgement, recognising the trade\-offs between service, cost, speed, quality and customer experience.

  • Accurate and methodical when checking data, costs and processes, without becoming slow or overcomplicating the task.

  • Ambitious and keen to develop, actively seeking feedback and taking on greater responsibility as capability grows.

  • Practical and grounded, with a willingness to spend time close to the operation before deciding what should change.

  • A collaborative approach and the confidence to influence people positively without relying on formal authority.

  • Comfortable managing several priorities, making sensible decisions and asking for help when the situation requires it.

  • Able to learn operational systems such as WMS, TMS, ERP and BI tools.

  • A practical knowledge of AI and a curiously to learn how to integrate this into your work to leverage greater efficiencies.

  • Prepared to acknowledge mistakes, act on feedback and change direction when the evidence supports a better approach.

  • Motivated by delivering a real improvement, not simply producing analysis or reports.

  • Respectful and approachable, with the maturity to work constructively with colleagues at every level.
