Locum Consultant in the department of Paediatric Nephrology

This is a 10PA locum appointment for a Locum Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist. This post will be available from September for a period of 6 months.
This post will deliver 10PAs supporting the Paediatric Nephrology team (Dr Yadav, Dr McCallister, Dr Prajapati, Dr Newnham \& Dr Tyerman). The post\-holder will provide Tertiary Nephrology care and will contribute to 1:6 on call rota.
The post will be based at Leeds General Infirmary
The successful applicant should hold accreditation in Paediatric Nephrology in the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent, and should be on the Specialist Register or within six months of being admitted to the Register for trainees if currently in a training programme within the UK, or have references which have been authorised by the Deputy Medical Director and Clinical Director.
Applicants should have established skills in Paediatric Nephrology. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our Paediatric Nephrology department for 6 months but with the opportunity for this to be extended to cover the whole maternity period.

The Leeds Paediatric Renal Service provides regional specialist kidney care for children's across East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and the Humber. This service is one of the 13 designated services for Paediatric Nephrology in the UK and one of 10 providing a fully comprehensive service including transplantation.
The services at Leeds Children's Hospital are based in the renal unit, inpatient bed base on L50 and adjacent haemodialysis unit. This is a shared ward with Paediatric Hepatology and includes a shared 13 bed base including 8 cubicles (2 with the capacity of haemodialysis). Patients are routinely cared for on the High Dependency Unit and in Paediatric Intensive Care post renal transplant. Children will need to come to Leeds for specialised treatments or procedures which include renal transplantation, acute kidney injury requiring dialysis, insertion of long\-term dialysis access and problems relating to long\-term dialysis, renal biopsy, specialist imaging, renovascular angiography and treatment and children with complex nephro\-urological conditions. This is in addition to the large cohort of children with chronic kidney disease requiring the input of a large multi\-disciplinary team.
What you will bring to the role

To deliver care to patients with tertiary level nephrotic issues at the LGI
To link with Consultant colleagues in other relevant site specialist teams within the CSU and across the Hospital
To work with colleagues in Paediatric Nephrology to deliver acute on call (currently 1 in 6\) for 6 months. This includes both out of hours cover in addition to acute ward rounds during normal working hours .
To contribute to research, teaching, and new developments within the Paediatric Nephrology team. The post holder will be encouraged to facilitate and contribute to the current clinical research programs on going in the department.
