Live-In or Live-Out Private Driver / Housekeeper / Cook (or domestic team)

We are looking for a kind, experienced and highly capable Driver / Housekeeper / Cook to support a lady in her 70s in her lovely home near Chipping Norton, in Oxfordshire, helping her maintain her independence and continue enjoying a busy and fulfilling life. We would also welcome applications from two experienced individuals wishing to work together and share the responsibilities of the role. Private household experience is essential.

Driving is a particularly important part of this position, and we are looking for someone who is an experienced driver, completely comfortable driving in Central London and Oxford.

The role will involve approximately 15 hours of driving per week, including regular journeys to London and Oxford for hospital and medical appointments, personal appointments, visits to friends and social occasions. There will also be local driving for grocery shopping, errands and other day\-to\-day requirements.

Alongside the driving, the role will involve providing practical, hands\-on support with the day\-to\-day running of the home, including:

• General housekeeping, cleaning and household organisation to a high standard.


• Laundry, ironing and wardrobe care.


• Preparing simple, fresh and healthy meals as and when required.


• Organising and filling a weekly pill box in accordance with the prescribed medication schedule.


• Grocery shopping, household provisioning and running errands.


• Liaising with contractors, suppliers and tradespeople, and taking deliveries.


• Assisting with diary management, organising appointments and ensuring these are attended.


• Helping with the family dogs, including walking, feeding and occasional dog sitting


• Generally keeping everything organised and running smoothly.


• Some basic household and grounds maintenance skills would be a bonus, although not essential.

Above all, we are looking for someone warm, empathetic, discreet and genuinely caring, who will be a reassuring and positive presence in the home. The right candidate will be practical, organised and proactive, an experienced housekeeper with a natural ability to anticipate what needs doing without being asked. Equally important is having the sensitivity to know when to offer support and when to give someone their own space.

We are looking for someone who is:

• A confident, experienced and safe driver, completely comfortable driving in central London, with a full, clean UK driving licence.


• Experienced in all aspects of housekeeping and the practical running of a private household.


• A competent home cook, happy preparing fresh, everyday meals.


• Organised and capable of assisting with diary management, appointments and household administration.


• Kind, patient, trustworthy and discreet, with a naturally caring disposition.


• Flexible, adaptable and happy to turn their hand to a variety of tasks.


• Comfortable around dogs and happy to help care for them.


• Positive, cheerful and personable, with a genuine desire to make a difference.


• Experienced in working in private households, with excellent, verifiable references.

Hours: Approximately 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with a certain degree of flexibility on these hours to accommodate medical appointments and a willingness to work occasional weekends when required, with time off in lieu.

Salary: Circa £45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Accommodation: For candidates seeking a live\-in position, a lovely, self\-contained two\-bedroom, one\-bathroom cottage with its own private garden is available, with all household bills included in the package.

The family are equally happy to consider a suitable live\-out candidate who is local.

Whilst this role could be ideally suited to one capable and versatile individual, we would also be delighted to hear from experienced partnerships who could share the various responsibilities between them, particularly where one is a confident driver and the other enjoys housekeeping, cooking and household organisation.

The precise division of responsibilities, working arrangements and remuneration can be discussed depending on the experience and suitability of the applicants.

Pay: £45,000\.00 per year
