About the role

We are looking for a compassionate, reliable and dedicated Personal Care Assistant to provide personalised support within a home and community setting.

The successful applicant will help the individual maintain their independence, safety and quality of life. Support will include personal care, household tasks, medication, mobility, appointments and social activities.

This is a varied and rewarding role requiring someone who is patient, respectful, trustworthy and comfortable supporting different aspects of everyday life.

Main responsibilities

  • Assist with personal care, including washing, bathing, showering, dressing, grooming and toileting.

  • Support safe mobility, repositioning and transfers, including the use of moving and handling equipment where required.

  • Provide medication support and assist with prescribed treatments in accordance with the care plan and training provided.

  • Prepare meals and provide support with eating and drinking when necessary.

  • Assist with cleaning, laundry, washing dishes, shopping and other household tasks.

  • Drive to appointments, activities, shopping trips and social occasions.

  • Support exercise, physiotherapy or other agreed health\-related activities.

  • Help with administration, organising appointments and completing everyday tasks.

  • Provide companionship, conversation and emotional support.

  • Encourage participation in hobbies, interests and community activities.

  • Maintain accurate records and report any changes in health, wellbeing or support needs.

  • Follow care plans, risk assessments, confidentiality requirements and health and safety procedures.

  • Promote dignity, choice, independence and control at all times.

  • Provide occasional night\-time support where required.
About you

You should be:

  • Reliable, honest and punctual.

  • A confident and competent driver.

  • A good communicator with spoken and written English.

  • Organised, hygienic and conscientious.

  • Flexible and able to work according to an agreed rota.

  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider support team.

  • Willing to learn and complete all required training.

  • Able to build a positive professional relationship while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

  • Friendly and able to provide companionship and support with social activities.
Shared interests—such as cooking, travel, music, films, reading, nature, shopping, sport, health and fitness, arts and culture, or socialising—would be welcomed but are not essential.

Essential requirements

  • A valid driving licence and the ability to drive safely. Over 215 due to insurance.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

  • Basic IT skills for recording information and communicating with the support team.

  • A professional, dependable and respectful approach.

  • Ability to undertake personal care and practical support duties.

  • Willingness to work a flexible two\-shifts\-on, four\-shifts\-off rota.

  • Eligibility to work in the UK.

  • Willingness to complete an enhanced DBS check and provide satisfactory references.
Experience and training

Previous experience as a Personal Assistant, care worker, healthcare assistant, support worker or in a home\-care setting would be beneficial. However, it is not essential, as full training will be provided to the right candidate.

Applicants with moving and handling, medication, first aid, healthcare or nursing experience are particularly welcome.
