About the role Street Lighting Design Engineer – Connect Plus Services (M25 Project)
We have a terrific opportunity for a Street Lighting Design Engineer for our Connect Plus Services M25 London Orbital Motorway Project.
This role is based at one of our main offices in Leatherhead, South Mimms or Dartford with a requirement to work across CPS depots (Leatherhead, Dartford \& South Mimms) and attend site visits as needed
CPS is a joint venture between Balfour Beatty, Atkins and Egis. We operate and maintain the M25 – the busiest motorway in Europe – delivering over £100m of annual investment alongside planned and reactive maintenance.

What you'll be doing As a Street Lighting Design Engineer, you will:
- Support the planning, coordination and delivery of lighting design projects from concept through to completion
- Undertake highway lighting designs using Lighting Reality or similar software
- Deliver and support electrical design activities using associated design tools
- Manage and review design documentation, ensuring accuracy and alignment with project requirements
- Coordinate and manage external design consultants
- Review design outputs to ensure compliance with DMRB, MCHW and relevant standards
- Resolve engineering and design issues, both on site and with design teams
- Maintain trackers and registers for design deliverables, including O\&M manuals and H\&S files
- Liaise with internal teams, supply chain and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and delivery
- Stay up to date with changes to standards and best practices, sharing knowledge across the team
- Experience delivering highway lighting design projects within the Strategic Road Network
- Strong knowledge of ILP \& British standards, with ILP Exterior Lighting Diploma
- Experience using Lighting Reality or similar design software
- Knowledge of DMRB, MCHW and relevant UK/European standards
- Experience in electrical design and associated software
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or a related discipline)
- Professionally qualified (or working towards) with a recognised institution
