Job Description

Position: Lecturer
Organisation: Results Consortium (in partnership with Leeds Trinity University)
Salary Range: £25,000 – £27,000 per annum
Location: Northampton
Contract Type: Full\-Time, Permanent
Reporting To: Deputy Programme Lead / Programme Lead

1\. Role Purpose

The Business Lecturer will play a key role in delivering high\-quality teaching, assessment, and academic support across undergraduate and top\-up business programmes through Results Consortium in collaboration with Leeds Trinity University. The post\-holder will contribute to an excellent student experience by delivering engaging sessions, supporting student progression, and upholding academic and quality standards.

An Accounting qualification and relevant experience would be highly advantageous for this role.

2\. Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching and Learning

  • Deliver well\-structured and engaging lectures, seminars, and workshops across a range of business subjects.

  • Develop and update module materials, lesson plans, and digital learning resources in line with programme requirements.

  • Employ inclusive, student\-centred teaching strategies that support diverse learner needs.

  • Provide academic guidance, tutorial support, and study\-skills development to students.
Assessment and Feedback
  • Design assessments that align with module learning outcomes and LTU assessment regulations.

  • Mark coursework and examinations on Turnitin and provide clear, constructive, and timely feedback.

  • Participate in internal moderation, standardisation meetings, and external examiner engagement.

  • Maintain accurate assessment records and ensure punctual submission of grades.
Quality Assurance and Compliance
  • Support the implementation of LTU academic regulations, policies, and quality assurance procedures.

  • Contribute to programme reviews, teaching observations, curriculum enhancement, and audit preparations.

  • Uphold high standards of academic integrity, safeguarding, data protection (GDPR), and student welfare.

  • Engage in regular continuing professional development (CPD) to maintain teaching excellence.
Student Support and Engagement
  • Provide proactive academic and pastoral support, identifying and assisting students who may be at risk.

  • Promote an inclusive, respectful, and motivating learning environment.

  • Support student induction, orientation programmes, and engagement initiatives that enhance retention and success.

  • Encourage employability, reflective learning, and professional skills development.
Professional and Operational Duties
  • Work collaboratively with Programme Leads and academic colleagues to ensure smooth programme operations.

  • Attend staff meetings, training sessions, workshops, and development activities as required.

  • Contribute to campus activities, open days, academic events, and stakeholder engagement.

  • Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and a commitment to institutional values.
3\. Person SpecificationEssential Criteria
  • Master’s degree in Business, Management, or a closely related discipline.

  • Experience in teaching, training, or delivering academic content in FE/HE or industry settings.

  • Strong communication, presentation, and classroom management skills.

  • Ability to design effective learning materials and support diverse learner cohorts.

  • Competence in using digital platforms such as Canvas, Turnitin, Microsoft Office, and virtual teaching tools.

  • Commitment to inclusive education and continuous professional development.
Desirable Criteria
  • A recognised teaching qualification (e.g., PGCert, PGCHE, DET, FHEA/AFHEA).

  • Experience working within UK higher education partnership or pathway programmes.

  • Knowledge of assessment design, academic writing support, and quality assurance processes.

  • Engagement in research, scholarship, or professional practice.

  • Experience or background in accounting is appreciated.
