About Assist Care Team:
Assist Care Team are one of Northampton’s largest providers of Independent Supported Accommodation across a variety of properties from shared homes to flats.
We primarily help Young People in Care and those Leaving Care with accommodation and support needs. We believe that young people need a friendly and supportive team and we recognise that every young person’s situation is unique
About the role:
A Residential Support Worker is required to join our team in one of our 24/7 homes close to Northampton Town Centre. Our homes have 4 or 5 beds where we support 16–18\-year\-olds to work towards independence as well as learning to deal with the daily challenges that may be experienced from being a separated child. We aim to improve not only independence, but resilience, confidence, engagement with education or employment and working towards a better future for themselves.
Emphasis will be sharing the responsibility for the safety and well\-being of the young people, supporting with their daily routines, attending medical appointments, encouraging regular attendance at college, completing daily feedback, placement support plans etc
Effective communication skills and record keeping are mandatory, along with the ability to build relationships with staff, outside agencies and most importantly the young people themselves.
We are looking for someone to work Monday to Friday 8am\- 4\.30pm in our new home. 37\.5 hours per week
As this is a 24/7 service you will be required to work Bank Holidays that fall on your normal working day. Holiday in lieu will be given.
This job is on a self\-employed basis.

Person specification:
- Minimum of 12 months experience as a support worker in a similar role
- A good standard of English to be able to complete accurate records
- Minimum QCF Level 3 Residential Childcare or equivalent qualification (option to study towards this)
- Resilience and strong sense of empathy
- Able to deal with a variety of situations and able to remain calm
- Dedicated and passionate to help the young people reach their potential
- To want to make a positive impact to the people we support
- To ensure DBS is kept on the update service

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)
Safeguarding the Young People we support is of utmost importance to Assist Care Team. We expect employees to abide by legislation and best practice to enable the organisation to achieve this. This role has been identified as requiring an enhanced DBS check. It is a contractual requirement for you to complete a DBS form as requested by Assist Care Team and provide evidence to support the application. You must sign up to and maintain registration with the DBS Update Service and allow the Company to retain a copy of the disclosure certificate within your personnel file.
Failure to disclose any caution, reprimand or conviction which is later identified on your DBS check may result in disciplinary action, suspension or dismissal. In line with the requirements of the Update Service, you will be required to maintain your personal information. Assist Care Team will review your DBS record periodically to identify any changes in circumstances that may be detrimental to your employment.
