Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Learning Facilitator (SEN Teaching Assistant) to support children with special educational needs, including those with autism and disabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with educators and care teams to create an inclusive, nurturing environment that promotes learning and development for young children, including toddlers. Duties
- Assist teachers in delivering tailored educational programmes for children with special needs, including autism and other disabilities.
- Support children during classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged and included.
- Provide individualised care and attention to children, particularly toddlers, to promote their developmental milestones.
- Implement behaviour management strategies in line with personalised plans.
- Facilitate communication between children and staff using appropriate methods suited to each child's needs.
- Monitor and record children's progress, behaviours, and responses to interventions.
- Support the organisation of sensory activities and therapeutic exercises as directed by specialists.
- Foster a safe, welcoming environment that encourages confidence and independence among children.
- Experience working with individuals with autism or disabilities is highly desirable.
- Prior teaching or childcare experience, especially within special education settings.
- Knowledge of working with children across different age groups, including toddlers.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
- Compassionate attitude with a genuine interest in supporting children's developmental needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special needs support are advantageous but not essential. This role offers an enriching environment for those passionate about supporting children's growth through specialised education and care practices.
