Leak Detection Engineer

Location: Central London \& South West London

Job Type: Full\-Time (Monday – Friday)

Salary: Competitive CIS 50/50 Labour split

Absolute Plumbing Ltd is a growing plumbing, heating, drainage, and leak detection company serving residential, commercial, insurance, and property management clients across London.

We pride ourselves on delivering accurate diagnostics, excellent customer service, and practical solutions to complex water leak issues. Due to continued growth, we are looking to recruit an experienced Leak Detection Engineer to join our team.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for locating and diagnosing concealed water leaks in domestic and commercial properties using a range of specialist leak detection equipment and techniques.

You will be expected to work independently, produce accurate findings, communicate clearly with clients, and provide professional reports where required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out non\-invasive leak detection investigations

  • Locate internal and external water leaks

  • Diagnose mains water leaks, heating system leaks, underfloor heating leaks, and concealed pipework leaks

  • Use specialist equipment including:

  • Acoustic listening devices

  • Thermal imaging cameras

  • Tracer gas equipment

  • Endoscopic inspection cameras

  • Produce clear and accurate reports

  • Communicate findings professionally with clients, insurers, loss adjusters, and property managers

  • Carry out minor remedial plumbing works where appropriate

  • Work safely and professionally at all times

  • Maintain company equipment and vehicle
Essential Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in leak detection

  • Strong plumbing and heating background

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Excellent fault\-finding and diagnostic skills

  • Ability to work independently

  • Strong customer service and communication skills

  • Experience producing leak detection reports

  • Good understanding of domestic and commercial water systems
Preferred Qualifications
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating

  • City \& Guilds Plumbing Qualification

  • Water Regulations Certification

  • WRAS Awareness Certificate

  • Gas Safe Registration (advantageous)

  • Unvented Hot Water Certificate (G3\)

  • CSCS Card

  • Asbestos Awareness Training

  • First Aid at Work Certification
Desirable Experience
  • Insurance claim investigations

  • Trace and access work

  • Commercial property leak detection

  • Underfloor heating diagnostics

  • Thermal imaging surveys

  • Tracer gas investigations

  • Drainage investigations and CCTV surveys
