Job Summary

Connaught House Care Centre is looking for experienced and reliable Kitchen Assistants to support the catering team in delivering high\-quality meal services to our residents. The successful candidate will assist with food preparation, maintain cleanliness within the kitchen environment, and help ensure safe food handling practices are consistently followed.

Working Hours

  • 38 hours per week over 4 days

  • Weekend availability is essential

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation and serving of nutritious, well\-balanced, and appealing meals tailored to residents’ individual needs.

  • Handle, prepare, and store food in accordance with Food Hygiene Regulations.

  • Use cleaning materials safely and in line with COSHH Regulations.

  • Clean and maintain kitchen work surfaces, equipment, fridges, ovens, and floors to a high standard.

  • Ensure store rooms remain clean, organised, and well maintained.

  • Wash crockery and cutlery or load/unload dishwashers, ensuring all items are clean and properly stored.

  • Assist with putting away deliveries and kitchen supplies promptly.

  • Support with ordering supplies when required.

General Duties
  • Work effectively as part of a team within the care home environment.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with colleagues and residents.

  • Attend mandatory training sessions as required.

  • Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role and level of responsibility.

Knowledge, Skills \& Experience
  • NVQ Level 2 in Catering (preferred).

  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene Regulations.

  • Understanding of kitchen equipment operations.

  • Awareness of COSHH and Health \& Safety procedures.

  • Previous experience in a kitchen or catering environment is desirable.

Job Types: Full\-time, Permanent

Pay: £12\.71 per hour
