Build technology that makes road inspections faster, safer and smarter. Grow your development skills in a small product team, with guidance from experienced colleagues.

About SmartVision

SmartVision is reimagining highway inspections with AI. Our platform brings together computer\-vision analysis, geospatial mapping and inspection management, turning road images into practical intelligence that helps teams understand road condition, prioritise maintenance and confirm repairs.

We are building SmartVision as a focused, growing company with a small team and an ambitious product. That means less distance between an idea and its impact — and plenty of scope for the right developer to help shape how we work and what we build next.

The opportunity

We’re looking for a curious and motivated Junior Software Developer who is ready to build their skills by solving real product problems. Working alongside experienced colleagues, you’ll help design, build and improve applications across our .NET, SQL and React stack, while also gaining experience with Python and Azure\-hosted components.

This role will suit someone who enjoys learning, asks thoughtful questions and is comfortable in a startup\-style environment where priorities can evolve. You’ll receive guidance and support, while being encouraged to contribute ideas, take increasing responsibility and become a well\-rounded developer as SmartVision grows.

What you’ll do

  • Help design and develop robust, maintainable applications using .NET, SQL and React.

  • Learn how to turn product and customer needs into well\-considered technical solutions.

  • Contribute to Azure\-hosted components using Python, object storage and event queues.

  • Work with product, test and development colleagues to deliver valuable features.

  • Maintain and improve existing applications through updates, refactoring and enhancements.

  • Learn to estimate work, communicate progress and raise questions or risks early.

  • Test your work thoroughly and build your understanding of reliability, security and performance.

  • Investigate and resolve issues with support from the wider team.

  • Contribute ideas in team and project discussions and learn from code reviews and feedback.

  • Develop your technical knowledge and share what you learn with colleagues.
What we’re looking for
  • A foundation in C\#/.NET and SQL, gained through study, a bootcamp, personal projects, a placement, an internship or your first development role.

  • Some experience with React, or a comparable modern framework such as Angular or Vue.

  • Awareness of Microsoft Azure, Python, object storage and event queues, together with an interest in developing your practical experience with these technologies.

  • A basic understanding of Git and version\-control workflows.

  • An understanding of testing, debugging and the importance of clear, maintainable code.

  • Clear communication, attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions and act on feedback.

  • Comfort working collaboratively in a small team and adapting as priorities change.

  • Curiosity about the product, its users and the real\-world problems the technology is solving.
Useful, but not essential
  • Commercial experience gained through an internship, placement or first software\-development role.

  • Experience with geospatial applications, mapping or Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

  • Experience building event\-driven, data\-rich, image\-based or AI\-enabled applications.

  • Experience with Visual Studio or the wider Microsoft development ecosystem.
What you’ll get
  • Visible impact: work on a product that turns complex road data into decisions people can act on.

  • Supported development: learn from experienced colleagues through guidance, feedback and code reviews.

  • Growing responsibility: take on broader and more complex work as your confidence develops.

  • A close\-knit team: collaborate directly with the people shaping and delivering the product.

  • Room to grow: develop with the company as SmartVision establishes itself and expands.

  • Company benefits such as 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays and a day off for your birthday, and the Bike2Work Scheme.
