Junior Mechanical Design Engineer
Role Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail\-oriented Junior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our established team of engineers, based in Rathcoole, Co Dublin. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to the design and continuous improvement of innovative switchgear products. This is an excellent opportunity for an early\-career engineer to develop their skills in a specialist manufacturing environment. Working alongside experienced engineers, you will gain hands\-on knowledge in mechanical design, 3D modelling, project delivery and production support, while building a long\-term career within the electrical power industry.

Key Responsibilities
*Engineering duties:*
- Support the Engineering team to design and develop low voltage switchgear systems, in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Assist in the creation of detailed 3D models and 2D drawings as required for each project
- Learn how to utilise software and other design tools to create accurate and efficient mechanical designs.
- Work closely with the project management team to clarify project specifications, ensuring that our designs meet client expectations every time.
- Collaborate with cross\-functional teams from Engineering, Production and Quality to ensure the equipment works as per specification.
- Learn how to conduct thorough mechanical design reviews and provide input on optimisation.
- Create comprehensive design documentation, including technical specifications, test plans and reports, ensuring that this is accurate, complete, and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in the preparation for FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) process, supporting both colleagues and clients with test documentation and guidance throughout.
- Support the Engineers in monitoring timelines of assigned projects, ensuring that design milestones are met in accordance with project schedules.
- Participate in production and project meetings to resolve mechanical issues as they arise.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of standardised design libraries, including 3D/2D templates, BOM structures, and component databases, to improve efficiency and consistency across projects.
- Develop and maintain awareness of industry trends, health \& safety requirements and the International (IEC), British (BS), European (EN) and other standards which apply to our business.
- Contribute to a collaborative and innovative working environment.
- Deliver duties in a professional, with confidentiality and discretion.
- Complete all training as required for your role.
- Support as needed if requested to carry out other duties within the business.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (or equivalent industry experience).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
- Strong problem\-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

- Fluent in English and eligible to work in Ireland.
- Previous experience of working in the switchgear, electrical or power industry.
- Basic understanding of switchgear systems, installation, testing, and commissioning processes.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Revit etc.
- Knowledge of electrical safety standards and best practices, and familiarity with international standards and regulations in the electrical industry.
- Familiarity with project management software e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheets etc.
- Full\-time, permanent position.
- Based primarily onsite in our office in Rathcoole, Co Dublin. Travel to client sites may be required.
- Standard working hours are 07:30\-16:30 Mon\-Thurs, and 07:30\-13:30 Fridays. Occasional evening or weekend work to meet project deadlines or deal with client requirements.
- Salary range is €38,000 – €45,000, depending on experience.
