SMBC Leasing is a product area of the bank. It provides asset finance solutions tot he bank's clients. these products cover leasing and junior \& mezzanine debt.

Role Summary

Position is to work as an originator reporting into an executive director. Position covers:

Day to day responsibility of working on deals

To help \& lead marketing efforts for pitching for new business working within the team framework

To link and work closely with all support functions within the team

To lead and provide support deal related and collaboration activities with other SMBC Leasing and SMBC BI departments including with relationship managers, syndication and other product groups,

Will be expected to be able to act as key team member when team is originating and executing structured asset finance transactions of a complex nature, dealing with preparation and checking of financial models, risk analysis, writing credit memos and transaction summaries, reviewing legal and technical DD reports and supporting approval process working in deal teams. Therefore, the role requires strong analytical and numerical skills.

The role is expected to work on complex transactions with multiple stakeholders where completion is invariably required within pressurised timelines.

The role requires attention to detail to ensure that the transaction from the clients expectation meets the details that are submitted and approved internally

Given the requirement to achieve LF targets and the competitive nature of our market place the role requires innovation, collaboration and a relationship orientated approach

Skills

Good negotiation skills

Existing experience of working in the origination environment of a UK leasing or a project finance business

Understanding of leasing or project finance preferred

Strong analytical, numerical and financial skills, in particular the ability to use Excel to advanced level

Financial modelling is key and together with credit and investment thesis preparation are all required

Strong relationship and inter\-personal skills

English \+ second European language preferred

Qualifications: Degree level as a minimum

Position Description

Position reports a team executive director

Budget responsibility for allocated target

Runs deal closing processes with oversight from exec. director team and working within normal team governance setup.

Range of deals worked on is across all LF product range, with focus on appropriate junior investment opportunities

To act as a point of contact for internal and external transaction stakeholders

To work on the marketing and origination process including client pitching, pricing, credit, documentation development, and on\-going documentation drawdown process and involvement in cross departmental collaboration programmes under guidance of reporting director

Work includes the completion of financial modelling and client related credit and pricing analysis

Will be expected to guide junior staff

To attend client meetings to ensure an understanding of on\-going client relationship issues. Depending on the meeting may be the sole LF representative or part of a team

To continue working with bank syndication teams to release value from portfolio of closed deals

To prepare various information documents such as Team Sheets, Cash flows, Credit papers to insure internal progression of transactions

To help manage existing key relationships and build relationships with clients and stakeholders where facilities require multiple drawdowns over time so that she can help to manage on\-going completions
