Junior Assistant Contracts Manager – Fit\-Out

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and organised Junior Assistant Contracts Manager or Working Foreman to join our team and help us fit\-out a high quality bespoke residential project in London WC1\. .
The project is a 4 storey double fronted mews building, designed unusually for “hybrid” use. Most of the time the building will be used as 5 residential flats, but on some occasions, the entire building will be used as a single art gallery, this has presented some unique challenges.
The fitout specification itself is unusually creative, with extensive use of sliding walls, polished concrete and microcement.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with joinery fit\-out experience who is looking to take the next step in their career and develop their skills in contracts and project management as well as also help on the tools themselves part of the time.
You will work closely with an experienced Contracts Manager, gaining hands\-on experience across the full project lifecycle. The role will involve a mixture of project coordination, subcontractor management, procurement and general site administration as well as advanced fitout joinery.
This is a practical role for someone who wants to progress into contracts management and take on increasing responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Contracts Manager with the day\-to\-day running of fit\-out projects.
- Attend site and monitor progress of works.
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
- Assist with coordinating subcontractors and trades.
- Monitor progress against the project programme.
- Assist with procurement of materials and subcontractors.
- Obtain and compare subcontractor quotations.
- Review drawings and specifications.
- Assist with variations and additional works.
- Help monitor project costs and expenditure.
- Attend project and site meetings.
- Prepare progress updates and project reports.
- Assist with snagging and quality control.
- Help coordinate project completion and handover.
- Maintain accurate project records and documentation.
- Identify issues and report them to the Contracts Manager.
- Take on increasing responsibility as experience and knowledge develop.
We are looking for someone who is keen to learn, reliable and commercially minded, with a genuine interest in construction and fitting out.

Ideally, you will have:
- Some experience within construction or fit\-out.
- Good organisational and communication skills.
- The confidence to deal with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Good attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of construction drawings and specifications.
- Basic commercial awareness.
- Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word.
- A willingness to work on site and in the office.
- A proactive approach and willingness to learn.
