Role Description
This is a high\-impact leadership opportunity within the JICC, at the centre of the UK’s international law enforcement response. The post holder will lead operational delivery within the National Extradition Unit, ensuring a coordinated, prioritised and effective approach to extradition activity across England and Wales.
The JICC works in close partnership with domestic and international stakeholders, coordinating international cooperation to deliver operational outcomes, support frontline policing, and strengthen the UK’s response to cross\-border criminality. Through its specialist capabilities, including INTERPOL, Europol and Prüm, the JICC enables the development of intelligence and the progression of operational activity at pace.
The Directorate comprises several core functions, including:
- The International Liaison Officer (ILO) Network, providing NCA representation and operational reach across more than 130 countries;
- The Joint International Crime Centre (JICC), delivering 24/7 international cooperation services to UK policing and partners;
- Regional Desks, coordinating overseas activity through the ILO network; and
- Enabling Functions, supporting operational delivery and organisational performance.
Within the Directorate, the Joint International Crime Centre (JICC) provides the UK’s central capability for international law enforcement cooperation. Operating a 24/7 service, the JICC leads and coordinates international enquiries, delivering critical support to UK policing and wider law enforcement through a range of specialist functions, including INTERPOL, Europol, biometrics (Prüm), international advisory services and extradition.
The National Extradition Unit (NEU) sits at the heart of this capability, managing and progressing extradition requests to locate, arrest and bring fugitives to justice. It works in close partnership with UK policing, criminal justice partners and international law enforcement agencies to deliver high\-risk, high\-impact operational outcomes

Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership Lead and manage teams to address National and International law enforcement enquiries
Operational Activities Oversee operational intelligence activity, ensuring that resources are deployed proportionately, ethically and in accordance with legislation and policy.
Performance Monitor performance and manage, coach and develop staff.
Organisational Improvement Manage and deliver organisational change across teams, and Identify opportunities for the implementation of new efficiency and technology initiatives
Risk Management Identify, manage, mitigate and prioritise risk
Collaborative Working Liaise with and advise partners across UK Policing, wider law enforcement, and international law enforcement to build strong, mutually beneficial relationships to meet the objectives of the NCA
Stakeholder Management Liaise with and advise key stakeholders and law enforcement partners within the UK and overseas.

Powers:
In order for the NCA Designating Officer to delegate powers to an NCA officer under the Crime and Courts Act, the agency requires that any officer that requires powers for their role is required to pass the NCA Exams within their probationary period. Upon successful completion of all exams an officer will be designated under section 10 of the Crime and Courts Act 2013 as a person having the following powers:
the powers and privileges of a constable;
the powers of an officer of Revenue and Customs;
the powers of an immigration officer; and
the powers of a general customs official.
Officers joining the agency will be provided with online access revision material and offered classroom based tutorials to support them taking exams.
Those working in Northern Ireland and Scotland are currently required to successfully complete the NCA Exams as above, Northern or Scottish powers course and the National Investigators Exam (NIE), if not previously passed
