Job Title: Import Supervisor – Transport & Logistics (European Operations)

The Import Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the end\-to\-end import process while managing and developing European transport services within the department . This includes ensuring efficient cross\-border movements, maintaining compliance with international trade regulations, and delivering operational and financial performance in line with company targets.
Key Responsibilities
1\. Import Operations Management
- Supervise daily import activities including shipment tracking, documentation, and delivery scheduling
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure seamless movement of goods
- Monitor shipment progress and resolve delays or disruptions across UK and European routes
- Timely quoting of operators for customers
- Plan, manage, and develop European road freight services (groupage, part\-load, and full\-load)
- Coordinate scheduled departures and maximise trailer utilisation
- Manage relationships with European partners, depots, and subcontractors
- Ensure efficient routing, transit times, and service reliability across European lanes
- Continuously improve service performance and profitability
- Ensure compliance with UK and EU customs regulations, including post\-Brexit requirements
- Oversee customs clearance processes for EU and non\-EU imports
- Review and approve all shipping and customs documentation
- Liaise with HMRC, customs brokers, and relevant authorities
- Ensure all jobs are operated within agreed time and cost budgets
- Monitor job profitability and identify cost variances
- Ensure accurate and timely invoicing in line with operational completion and customer agreements
- Meet strict invoicing deadlines and support month\-end financial processes
- Ensure team Validate supplier costs and approve invoices where required
- Lead and support a team of import/export coordinators
- Develop \& Educate team
- Allocate workloads and ensure operational efficiency
- Provide training on European transport operations, systems, and customs procedures
- Monitor transport costs, duties, and overall service margins
- Negotiate rates with hauliers, partners, and logistics providers
- Manage and review performance of European subcontractors and carriers
- Maintain accurate data within FM systems
- Track KPIs including transit times, service reliability, and financial performance
- Produce operational and financial reports for management review
- Manage issues such as border delays, customs holds, or capacity constraints
- Implement contingency plans for European network disruptions
- Escalate critical operational or financial issues where necessary
- Strong knowledge of European road freight operations (groupage, FTL, LTL)
- Solid understanding of UK/EU customs procedures and post\-Brexit requirements
- Strong commercial awareness (costing, margins, invoicing)
- Ability to manage time\-sensitive financial and operational deadlines
- Leadership and team management skills
- Excellent coordination and communication skills
- Proficiency in systems
- 3–5\+ years’ experience in import/export and European logistics operations
- Proven experience managing European road freight services
- Supervisory or team leadership experience
- Strong understanding of Incoterms and HMRC/CDS processes
- On\-time delivery and transit performance (UK–EU lanes)
- Trailer utilisation and load efficiency
- Import clearance times and compliance accuracy
- Invoicing accuracy and timeliness

Pay: £32,500\.00\-£37,500\.00 per year
