As Chapter Lead, you will drive the evolution of our Savings platform into a global, high\-performing and AI\-enabled product, directly contributing to customer growth and bank revenue.
Your impact
The Savings domain is a core pillar of ING:
- Drives Liability Net Interest Income (NII)
- Enables customer growth and retention
- Impacts customer satisfaction at scale
You will lead the technology behind Savings Critical Business Services, a high\-load platform evolving into a global solution serving markets such as Italy, Spain, and other countries.
Your mission is to ensure the platform is:
- Scalable and resilient under high load
- Globally reusable while supporting local needs
- Future\-ready through AI and emerging technologies
You combine engineering leadership, people development, and technology vision.
You will:
- Lead a chapter of engineers within the Savings domain
- Contribute as an engineer in a high\-load system landscape
- Drive chapter growth and engineering excellence
- Contribute to Engineering Community and strategic direction
- SPOC of area level Technology topic
What you will drive
Platform \& Engineering excellence
- Ensure availability, scalability, and performance of critical services
- Drive standardisation and reusable platform design across countries
- Build systems that meet high\-load and high\-availability requirements
- Act as a front runner in adopting new technologies and trends
- Drive AI adoption as part of daily engineering practices
- Translate technology demand into scalable solutions
- Enable automation, intelligence, and efficiency improvements
- Coach and develop high\-performing engineers
- Build a culture of continuous learning and innovation
- Strengthen capabilities in modern engineering and AI\-driven development
- Align engineering outcomes with business goals (NII, growth, CX)
- Deliver reliable, secure, and scalable solutions
- Balance global platform consistency with local market requirements
- Champion ING’s Agile Way of Working
- Promote DevOps, ownership, and continuous improvement
- Foster collaboration across countries and teams

- Strong background in backend engineering (Java ecosystem preferred)
- Experience with high\-load, distributed systems
- Proven people leadership and coaching experience
- Ability to work with international stakeholders
- Strong technology curiosity, including AI and emerging trends
- Strategic mindset with focus on scalability and impact
- Lead a critical business service with direct revenue impact
- Shape a global product used across multiple ING markets
