Installation Engineer — Fiber, Copper & Infrastructure

Job Description: We are looking for an Installation Engineer to support the delivery of regular infrastructure projects — fiber and copper cabling, CCTV installation, access point deployment, and cable pulling across commercial environments. Good to have their own van \& tools (hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments).

Key Responsibilities:

• Install and terminate fiber optic and copper cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a) across commercial sites


• Pull and route cable via ceilings, under\-floor risers, and across\-floor ducting


• Install and commission CCTV systems (camera placement, NVR setup, cable runs)


• Install and configure wireless access points, including working at height


• Patch panel termination and infrastructure cabinet builds


• Troubleshoot cabling and connectivity issues on\-site


• Collaborate with project managers and clients to understand site requirements


• Ensure all installations comply with safety standards and building regulations


• Conduct pre\-installation site surveys and post\-installation testing


• Maintain and organise tools, materials, and vehicle stock


• Document installations, test results, and as\-built records


• Provide technical support and advice to clients and colleagues

• GCSE or equivalent (preferred)


• IT\-related certifications (preferred)


• Excellent problem\-solving skills and attention to detail


• Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non\-technical stakeholders


• Full UK driving licence

• Do you have experience installing and commissioning network cabling, WiFi access points, and CCTV systems in commercial environments?


• Are you comfortable working at heights (e.g., replacing WiFi access points)?


• Have you worked with infrastructure tasks such as patch panels, fiber splicing, or CCTV installation?


• Are you self\-employed or do you have your own company?


• Are you comfortable traveling to various job sites and working flexible hours (including occasional weekends or evenings)?


• Do you have your own van and the necessary tools (hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments)?


• Do you have experience pulling and terminating fiber optic and copper cabling (Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6a)?
