Academics is recruiting on behalf of a supportive and inclusive school in East Sussex for a dedicated Individual Needs Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis from September 2026.

This rewarding role involves providing 1:1 support to a pupil with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), helping them to access learning, achieve their individual targets, and thrive within the school environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the child's academic, social, and emotional development while working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), parents, and the class teacher.

The Role • Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a pupil with an EHCP.

  • Support the pupil in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.

  • Implement strategies and interventions outlined within the EHCP.

  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social interactions.

  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff and SEN professionals.

  • Work closely with the SLT, parents, and class teacher to ensure consistent support and positive outcomes.

  • Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment.

Requirements • Previous experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable.
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and SEN support strategies is advantageous.

  • Patient, caring, and resilient approach to supporting pupils.

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
