LPT Healthcare is seeking a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon based in or around Sheffield to join our expanding panel of medical experts. This opportunity is suitable for consultants interested in undertaking independent assessments and producing expert reports for medico\-legal cases.

The role is designed to fit around existing NHS and private practice commitments, with appointments available remotely and through local clinic sessions.

What the Position Involves

• Assessing claimants with musculoskeletal and orthopaedic injuries


• Reviewing medical documentation and relevant case records


• Producing high\-quality medico\-legal reports within agreed timescales


• Providing objective opinions regarding injury causation, treatment requirements, and prognosis


• Participating in remote consultations and occasional face\-to\-face clinics

Applicants must:

• Hold full GMC registration with a licence to practise


• Be included on the GMC Specialist Register for Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgery


• Possess a CCT or equivalent specialist qualification


• Maintain appropriate medical indemnity cover


• Demonstrate strong written communication and report preparation skills

• Previous expert witness or medico\-legal experience


• ICO registration


• Familiarity with personal injury and rehabilitation pathways


• Availability for clinic\-based assessments when required

• Consultants receive 70% of the professional fee charged for each completed report


• Payments are issued following settlement of the instructing party's invoice


• No minimum commitment or fixed workload


• Cases offered according to your availability and geographical preference

• Flexible self\-employed engagement


• Administrative support including appointment scheduling and case management


• Access to a nationwide referral base


• Opportunity to develop or expand medico\-legal practice


• Combination of virtual and clinic\-based assessment work
