To support the provision of a high quality service to patients, visitors and staff within the Imaging Department.

You will have the opportunity to assist the patients when they attend the imaging department. Rotating between X\-ray, MRI and Ultrasound to assist the radiologists, radiographers and sonographers during the imaging procedures. This role involves managing patient care as well as performing administrative and support tasks.

CLINICAL

  • To welcome patients in the Imaging Department and direct them to the appropriate area.

  • To escort patients to changing cubicles, explain the need to undress and wear a gown, and when necessary, give assistance.

  • To assist in the care of patients throughout the Imaging Department and assist Radiographers and Radiologists as necessary.

  • To undertake the role of messenger as and when required.

  • To take telephone messages and answer simple queries.

  • With due regard to patient dignity, assist where necessary their access to washing and toilet facilities.

  • To transport and care for patients both within and outside of the department.

  • To chaperone patients as and when necessary.

  • Assist radiographic staff with clinical tasks before, during and following radiographic examinations.

  • To carry out duties associated with the processing of patients’ records.

  • To assist in maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and tidiness of the environment and equipment.

  • To support both domestic and facilities staff through undertaking specified cleaning and rubbish disposal duties.

  • To work within, and adhere to, standards and operational policies relating to provision of a quality imaging service.

  • To assist with administration duties as required.

  • To participate in the department's Extended Working Day System;

  • To work across a 7 day week, including Bank Holiday working; sessional working and weekend duties.

  • To be aware of the need to seek assistance when/where necessary.
TECHNICAL
  • To be familiar with the operation of all appropriate equipment within the Imaging department.

  • To enter patient details on the Radiology computer system (CRIS) ready for the Radiographers / Radiologists if required.

  • To assist with the appropriate level of image processing as required by the current system of image capture.
PROFESSIONAL
  • To adhere to the Trust and Departmental Uniform Policy.

  • To relate to and always communicate with all other staff in a courteous and helpful manner.

  • To promote the Imaging Service as a high\-quality professional patient\-care activity to patients, visitors and other health\-care workers, within and without the Trust.

  • To actively participate as an appraisee in the Personal Development Review process.

  • To participate in studies, research and audits as required by the Department and present findings at audit and governance meetings as requested.

  • To attend Mandatory Training as directed.

  • To complete the Care Certificate within the 12\-week induction program with support.
MANAGERIAL
  • To liaise with Radiographers, Radiologists, Clinicians and Nurses within the Trust in order to promote an efficient Imaging service which places the needs of the patient at the centre of all activities.

  • To promote good working relationships between all staff within the Imaging Department.

  • To liaise with Porters regarding the transport of patients to and from the department.

  • To maintain where necessary, an appropriate level of all relevant consumables.

  • To ensure that adequate supplies of linen are maintained throughout the department.

  • Keep and maintain all records required by the Department.
