Nightshift Hygiene Manager

Graham’s the Family Dairy is a Scottish food and drink brand, producing award\-winning dairy products. Our range includes milk, butter, cream, ice cream, yogurt, skyr and more.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Hygiene Manager to join our existing team at our site in Cowdenbeath. Reporting directly to the Technical Manager, you will be entrusted with a high degree of independence and have a genuine opportunity to make a meaningful impact towards our ever\-growing business.

*Responsibilities*

  • Ensuring completion of hygiene tasks in the timeframes required, identifying non\-compliance where applicable.

  • Responsible for creation, maintenance, implementation, and review of procedures (CIC’s) and standards to ensure compliance with company and customer Codes of Practice in relation to CIP and manual cleaning across the site.

  • Manage the training, development, and performance review for all those carrying out cleaning activities throughout the site. Ensuring all team members are competent to perform their roles. Inclusive of induction chemical handling training.

  • Ownership of the site Pest Control programme, ensuring any actions raised are shared with the person responsible for close out, ownership of the MyRentokil portal.

  • Actively involved in investigation of customer complaints and site non\-conformances (product or swabbing out of spec results) to identify root cause, corrective actions and prevent recurrence of the issues.

  • Carrying out root cause analysis, implement corrective and preventative actions in relation to any non\-conformances raised against the hygiene function.

  • Actively involved in audits by customers, third parties and regulatory authorities \- must have a good working knowledge of the site’s hygiene programme, including CIP.

  • Point of contact for the chemical supplier – fortnightly visits, follow up on actions, review usage reports, etc.

  • Carry out chemical concentration checks and hygiene audits, etc. as part of the verification process.

  • Maintenance, review, update, and daily sign off cleaning paperwork, ensuring cleaning is carried out as per required frequencies.

  • Coordinating with the Quality Manager on hygiene related environmental monitoring systems, including corrective actions for non\-conforming results.

  • Involvement in authorisation of plant hygiene and CIP process changes to ensure that product safety and quality objectives are continually met, as well as all hygiene/allergen validation.

  • Management of all hygiene equipment, ensuring the required equipment is available to all departments.
· Identify improvement opportunities in relation to hygiene/GMP requirements and where applicable, implement change to drive continuous improvement.

*What we are looking for*

The successful candidate will ideally be from a food production background and will have proven experience of managing a team in a similar role. You must be a proven problem solver who uses data and their initiative to resolve operational issues and drives continuous improvement.

Preferably candidates will hold COSHH and Food Hygiene certification, and knowledge of CIP systems.
