We are currently looking for an experienced and proactive HR Policy & Compliance Lead to join Aston University on a fixed-term basis until December 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity to take ownership of a high-impact project, leading the organisation’s readiness for upcoming employment legislation, including the Employment Rights Act 2026. You will work closely with senior HR stakeholders, managers, and trade unions to ensure policies are compliant, up to date, and effectively embedded across the organisation.

Key Details:

  • Contract: Fixed-term (until December 2026 – project-based)

  • Rate: £17.98 – £21.35 per hour (PAYE)

  • Location: Birmingham, B4

  • Working hours: Monday – Friday, standard office hours

  • Working Mode: Hybrid (typically 1 day per week onsite, with occasional additional in-person meetings)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the review, development, and implementation of HR policies and procedures

  • Ensure organisational readiness for Employment Rights Act 2026 and related legislation

  • Conduct compliance gap analysis and translate legal changes into practical policy updates

  • Develop and manage a clear policy implementation roadmap

  • Provide reporting and assurance updates to senior HR leadership

  • Work closely with stakeholders and trade unions to support consultation and adoption

  • Develop communications, guidance, and training materials for managers and staff

  • Monitor compliance through KPIs, tracking, and reporting frameworks

Qualifications:
  • CIPD Level 7 (or equivalent experience)

Experience & Knowledge:
  • Strong experience in a generalist or specialist HR role within a complex organisation

  • Proven experience in policy development and implementation

  • Solid knowledge of UK employment law and compliance

  • Experience working within a unionised environment

  • Experience managing stakeholders and delivering against KPIs

Skills & Attributes:
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines

  • Proactive, solutions-focused approach

  • High level of professionalism and integrity
