HR Officer
The Role
The varied role of HR Officer UK \& I is an integral member of the Creative Technology UK People team. We are seeking an individual who can provide expert advice, knowledge, and support in all aspects of employee relations, payroll administration, people management, D\&I, recruitment, compensation and benefits, L\&D, and other HR activities and initiatives, whilst offering general assistance to all employees and managers.
This is a varied and rewarding role within a fast\-paced People team, requiring the right individual to be resourceful and to work impartially, independently, professionally, and confidentially always.
This role will suit someone looking to further progress their career, take on greater levels of responsibility and get exposure to providing support to employees and managers across a range of sites within a multinational. The HR Officer will use their knowledge of employment laws, good working practices and regulations relating to the employee life cycle to protect the business and its employees.
Main Responsibilities
Payroll
- Process monthly payroll accurately and in line with deadlines.
- Maintain and update payroll records, including new starters, leavers, salary changes, overtime, billable days and deductions.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation (e.g. National Minimum Wage).
- Process statutory payments such as SSP, SMP, SPP, and other entitlements.
- Liaise with the external payroll provider Cintra.
- Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely and professional manner.
- Download and save payroll reports for management and audit purposes.
- Provide first\-line support on HR policies and procedures across the employee lifecycle, including absence, performance, learning and development, and employee benefits.
- Assist with employee relations matters, including disciplinary and grievance processes, escalating where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate employee records and HR systems (e.g. Employment Hero and edays), including absence tracking and reporting.
- Support recruitment activity, including advertising roles, shortlisting candidates, and assisting with interviews.
- Promote and support inclusion and diversity initiatives and fair recruitment practices.
- Onboarding: Prepare employment contracts, offer letters, and general HR correspondence in line with employment legislation.
- Build effective working relationships with employees and managers to support HR delivery and organisational objectives.
- Support the coordination of training activities and administration of learning systems.
- Contribute to company\-wide initiatives such as inclusion and diversity, and corporate responsibility.
- Support employee engagement and well\-being initiatives; participation in the Social Committee, coordinating welfare provisions such as office refreshments (e.g. weekly fruit orders) and Health and Safety activities (e.g. hearing tests for staff).
- Experience working a fast\-paced organisation within a busy HR environment
- Proven experience in HR/People administration with payroll responsibilities.
- Desirable CIPD qualification or minimum 3 years active HR practice
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes and UK legislation.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy and meeting deadlines
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Proficiency in Electronic HR and payroll systems – Desirable experience in Cintra, Employment Hero, edays, or similar systems.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Able to work to tight deadlines and thrive under pressure; comfortable working in a dynamic/ high growth environment. Able to prioritise and manage multiple concurrent tasks; proactive and solutions focused.
