An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HR Manager to join a local authority during a significant period of organisational change.
With Local Government Reorganisation planned for 2028, this role offers the chance to play a key part in supporting workforce transformation and helping shape the future delivery of local government services across the region.
The successful candidate will lead a broad range of operational and advisory HR activity, overseeing payroll, learning and development, and the HR administration team. They will also work closely with the Employee Relations Manager to support and advise on a range of employee relations matters.
Key Responsibilities • Oversee HR processes, documentation and compliance, acting as an escalation point for the HR administration team and providing guidance and support as required
- Work alongside the Employee Relations Manager to advise on and support more complex employee relations matters
- Provide clear and expert advice on HR matters and employment law to managers and employees
- Build strong relationships across the organisation and with external partners
- Oversee key HR operational areas including payroll and learning and development
- Lead and support wellbeing initiatives across the organisation
They will hold a CIPD qualification at Level 5 or above and have a strong understanding of employment law. They will also be highly organised, comfortable managing multiple priorities, and confident using HR systems.
