Job description
Vanilla Underground is a fast\-growing licensed pop culture merchandise and clothing business based in Tamworth. We supply major retailers and online platforms and are continuing to grow our team and internal structure.
We are looking for an experienced part\-time HR Manager to support the business with day\-to\-day HR, employee relations, recruitment, training, appraisals, policies, processes and manager support.
This is a hands\-on role, suited to someone who is confident working in a fast\-paced SME environment. We need someone practical, commercially minded and able to bring structure, consistency and confidence to how we manage people across the business.
Key responsibilities
Managing day\-to\-day HR across the business.
Supporting managers with employee relations matters, including absence, conduct, capability and performance.
Preparing and managing contracts, offer letters, changes to terms and leaver documentation.
Supporting recruitment, onboarding and probation processes.
Reviewing and updating HR policies, procedures and employee documentation.
Ensuring HR processes are fair, consistent, legally compliant and properly documented.
Making sure training needs are identified across the business and that appropriate training is in place for employees and managers.
Managing the appraisal process across the business, making sure Heads of Department carry out regular reviews with their teams.
Supporting managers to set clear objectives for their teams and follow up on performance, training needs and development plans.
Making sure objectives, feedback, performance conversations and development needs are properly documented.
Supporting managers with communication, team structure and people planning.
Working with finance/payroll to ensure employee details, sickness, holidays and pay changes are accurate.
Helping improve internal processes as the business continues to grow.
What we are looking for
Previous experience in an HR Manager, HR Business Partner, Senior HR Advisor or similar role.
Good working knowledge of UK employment law.
Confident handling employee relations matters from start to finish.
Experience supporting appraisals, training needs and manager development.
Strong attention to detail and good documentation skills.
Practical, balanced and commercially aware approach.
Comfortable working in a busy, fast\-moving business.
Able to advise managers clearly and confidently.
CIPD qualification would be beneficial but is not essential if you have strong practical experience.

You will be calm, organised and straightforward. You will be able to build good relationships with people, while also being confident enough to challenge where needed.
We are looking for someone who can support the team properly, hold managers accountable to good people processes, and help the business keep clear standards and structure as it grows.
