As our HR Manager you will be providing qualified professional support across all LSU departments and across a broad range of HR support from recruitment and onboarding across the full employee lifecycle through to off\-boarding. You will liaise closely with our colleagues in the Learning and Development Team to ensure the appropriate provision of mandatory training and professional development.
You will be working closely with Department Heads to bring about process improvement with a strong emphasis on effective change management, developing systems will also be a major part of this role, including the HR Management system(s), payroll and finance systems that support our organisation.
Successful applicants will have strong HR advisory experience, excellent UK employment law knowledge, the ability to effectively build strong working relationships and experience in reviewing and improving processes. You will be confident and comfortable advising senior colleagues, navigating ambiguity and offering constructive challenge and solutions in line with best practice and LSU strategy, policy and procedure and enjoy developing and improving existing practice and processes. In January 2025, we launched our Equity, Diversity \& Inclusion Charter. This outlined the vision that all students, staff, Executive Officers, volunteers, guests and contractors of LSU will have the opportunity to succeed, participate and enjoy their time at LSU. This vision remains at the core of our new strategy which we will deliver by valuing accountability, integrity, collaboration, and community.
As a charity the Students’ Union has a Board of Trustees which is responsible for the governance, management, strategy and overall budget of LSU. Our Senior Leadership team includes our Five Elected Officers, CEO, COO, Director of Student Engagement, Director of Marketing and Comms and Finance Director.
LSU has around 70 core salaried staff members providing professional support to our officers and volunteers and ensuring core operations, https://lsu.co.uk/staff (https://lsu.co.uk/staff). We then also provide casual work opportunities for around 300 students, the majority in our social enterprise activities such as retail, bars and catering.
