Chiltern Transport is an established and growing multi\-site Transport and Warehousing Company, operating from sites in the Leighton Buzzard area.
As we continue to expand, we’re looking for an experienced HR \& Compliance Manager to take ownership of our HR function, oversee recruitment and help maintain high standards of quality and compliance across the business.
This is a broad, hands\-on role within a fast\-paced organisation, working closely with our Senior Management Team across our sites. You will have the opportunity to review how we currently work, introduce improvements and help shape our HR and compliance function as the business continues to grow.
We have in place a Health \& Safety and HR \& Employment Law expert, Citation; they are there for support and advice and will work hand in hand with this role.
The role is totally supported by the Company and its Senior Management Team; compliance has been a crucial part of the Companies ethic, for over 30 years.

We’re looking for someone who is confident, organised and comfortable taking responsibility.
You’ll need strong HR knowledge alongside practical experience of quality, audit and compliance. You should be comfortable identifying areas for improvement, supporting managers and employees and following actions through to completion.
Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation is essential.
Experience within transport, logistics, warehousing or another operational environment would be advantageous.
Your role and responsibilities
Your responsibilities will include:
- Reviewing and improving HR policies, procedures and working practices
- Reviewing employment contracts and the Employee Handbook
- Maintaining accurate personnel records and improving HR record management
- Reviewing and updating job descriptions
- Supporting managers with employee relations and HR best practice
- Managing end\-to\-end recruitment across the business
- Supporting onboarding, training and employee development
- Helping drive employee engagement and organisational improvement
- Providing HR guidance and training to employees and managers
- Maintaining ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems
- Supporting Cyber Essentials accreditation
- Coordinating internal and external audits
- Managing document control, non\-conformances and corrective actions
- Supporting root cause analysis and continuous improvement
- Assisting with GDPR, environmental reporting and wider compliance requirements
- Building strong relationships across our multi\-site operation
- Supporting the business through continued growth and organisational change
- Previous HR management or HR \& Compliance experience
- Strong knowledge of UK employment legislation
- Experience supporting employee relations matters
- Experience managing recruitment from start to finish
- Experience conducting internal audits
- Knowledge of quality and compliance systems
- Experience managing corrective actions and non\-conformances
- Knowledge of ISO management systems
- Understanding of health \& safety and operational compliance
- Strong organisational and report\-writing skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confidence working independently and taking ownership
