JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Night Porter
Department: Operations / Front of House
Reports To: Reception Manager / Duty Manager

Job Purpose

To ensure the smooth, safe, and efficient operation of the hotel during night hours, maintaining high standards of cleanliness, supporting guests, and assisting with setup duties.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service

Assist with late check\-ins and early check\-outs as required

Respond promptly to guest requests (e.g. extra towels, bedding, amenities)

Provide a professional, friendly, and helpful service at all times

Escalate complaints or issues to the Night Manager when necessary

Cleaning Duties

Clean and maintain all public areas including reception, corridors, toilets, and lounge areas.

Vacuum, mop, dust, and sanitise surfaces

Ensure all areas are presentable for morning guests

Restock consumables such as toiletries and paper products

Spa \& Poolside Maintenance

Clean and sanitise poolside and spa areas

Maintain changing rooms, showers, and toilets

Ensure all areas are safe, tidy, and hazard\-free

Follow all health and safety and COSHH procedures

Room \& Function Setup

Set up meeting rooms and event spaces as per requirements

Arrange furniture and equipment according to layout plans

Ensure rooms are clean, organised, and ready for use

Security Duties

Conduct regular security checks of the premises

Ensure all entrances and exits are secure

Monitor for any unusual or suspicious activity

Ensure fire exits and walkways are clear

Health \& Safety

Comply with all hotel health and safety policies

Use cleaning chemicals safely in line with COSHH guidelines

Report hazards, maintenance issues, and incidents promptly

Assist in emergency situations if required

Key Skills \& Requirements

Good attention to detail

Ability to work independently and take initiative

Good communication and customer service skills

Reliable and punctual

Flexible and able to work night shifts

Basic understanding of health and safety practices

Desirable (Not Essential)

Previous experience in a hotel or cleaning role

Knowledge of spa or leisure facilities

Basic maintenance skills

Working Hours

Night shifts, including weekends and bank holidays

Typical hours: \[e.g. 23\.00 – 07\.00] occasionally covering till 09\.00am

Standards \& Expectations

Maintain a professional appearance at all times

Work quietly and respectfully during night hours

Uphold the hotel’s standards of cleanliness and service

Follow all company policies and procedures

This position offers an opportunity to be part of a dynamic hospitality team dedicated to delivering exceptional guest experiences around the clock.

Pay: £13\.50\-£14\.00 per hour
