Effective Stays Ltd is a growing property management company specialising in short\-term rental and holiday accommodation across Shropshire, Cheshire and North Wales. We manage a diverse portfolio ranging from town centre apartments to countryside cottages and boutique accommodation.
Our focus is on delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining high property standards, and using modern technology to streamline operations. As our portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for a reliable and practical Property Maintenance Operative to join our team.
The Role
This is a varied, hands\-on position suited to someone who enjoys solving problems, working independently and taking pride in maintaining high\-quality properties.
You will be responsible for carrying out maintenance tasks, assisting with property improvements, and helping ensure our properties remain in excellent condition for guests and owners alike.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend properties to diagnose and repair maintenance issues
- Carry out general handyman tasks and minor repairs
- Complete routine external maintenance including lawn mowing, hedge trimming and jet washing
- Undertake painting, decorating and minor refurbishment projects
- Assist with furniture assembly, appliance installation and property setup
- Support the onboarding of new properties into the portfolio
- PAT testing of appliances (training and equipment provided)
- Work alongside the Property Manager to complete maintenance tasks identified during inspections
- Occasionally attend guest\-related issues during stays where an on\-site visit is required
- Assist with stock deliveries and property improvements when required
- Previous experience in property maintenance, facilities management, construction, or a similar hands\-on role essential
- Practical skills across a range of trades including basic plumbing, joinery, painting and decorating, furniture assembly and general repairs
- Full UK driving licence
- Own vehicle and basic tools
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
- Friendly and professional approach when interacting with guests, owners and contractors
- Experience in holiday lets, hotels or residential property maintenance
- PAT testing qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
- Knowledge of health and safety best practices
The role is based in Shrewsbury but involves travelling to properties across Shropshire and surrounding areas. A driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.
Working hours are flexible and will be agreed with the successful candidate. Typical hours are between 09:00am and 5:00pm, although occasional evening, weekend or emergency call\-out work may be required.
Additional hours and overtime opportunities may be available during busy periods.
