Family and Systemic Psychotherapist
CAMHS services in Telford, Shropshire and Wrekin. CAMHS is made up of several pathways; a core mental health team, community eating disorder teams, Learning Disabilities, ADHD, Crisis and Home Treatment, Mental Health Support Team and an Autistic Spectrum Condition diagnostic service.
This post sits within the core mental health team which provides support to young people and their families who are experiencing a range of mental health difficulties. This post will also involve providing a Family and Systemic Psychotherapy service to children, young people and their families in Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin.
You will be responsible for providing systemic assessment, treatment\- planning and interventions for young people and their families, working independently and autonomously with an agreed caseload as required as well as working with other family therapists, systemic practitioners and wider team members and/or external agencies in order to facilitate the best possible outcomes. Contributing specialist systemic knowledge to the Multi\-disciplinary team to facilitate wider understanding of systemic issues.
The main duties of the role will be to:
Provide direct and indirect interventions to young people and their families.
To utilise specialist systemic skills and knowledge to engage with families and with wider outside agencies in order to facilitate positive outcomes in relation to the mental well\-being of children and young people. In relation to this the post holder will understand and utilise the principles of the THRIVE framework to inform thinking with regard to assessments and in relation to Care planning with the MDT.
To provide consultation, supervision and support to other clinical staff.
To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the governance of family therapy practice within the service/team.
To provide indirect interventions with young people, which will include systemic working with families, schools, local authorities and other agencies.
To utilise Systemic Family Therapy approaches that draw upon different explanatory models.
To be responsible and accountable for the assessment, treatment, review and discharge of young people whose problems are managed by family therapy\-based care plans and to understand and provide risk planning as part of the care provided.
To provide specialist family therapy advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing directly to formulation, diagnosis and treatment plan.
To adapt interventions based upon the needs of the young person.
