The Role
- Processes a designated range of tests and carries out technical procedures on patient samples using a range of scientific measurements and complex equipment
- Trained to operate and maintain complex equipment.
- Participates in training of less experience personnel.
- Pathology based posts will receive, store and discharge deceased patients in the mortuary.
- Processes a designated range of tests and undertakes technical procedures on patient samples using a range of scientific measurements.Trained to operate and maintain complex equipment. Required to work independently with indirect supervision from HPC registered practitioners.
- All Standard Operating Procedures.
- Prioritises own workload and that of any other support staff within section.
- Daily instrument testing, first line maintenance, repair, technical fault finding and performance of quality control on a daily basis for equipment.
- Experienced to a minimum level of HND in Biomedical Sciences, a science degree would be desirable or a minimum of two years experience as a Healthcare Science Support Worker (Higher grade) with evidence of training and applied knowledge of a wide variety of laboratory procedures with commitment to further educational development to HND level.
- Attendance at courses, training on new instrumentation.
- I.T. skills.
