We have a fantastic opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join the team at HMP Garth, a high security Category B male prison located in Leyland. HMP Garth has capacity of around 792, and houses men serving long term and indeterminate sentences.
In this crucial role, you will work within the Long Term Conditions team, who are part of the wider planned care / primary care team.
This is a great role in which you really can make a difference whilst growing your own skills \- we are happy to support and train you in venepuncture, ECGs, wound care etc \- we just need you to have a passion for delivering exceptional care!

Hours
This position is full time working 37\.5 hours per week, Monday \- Friday, 8am \- 4pm.
Salary
You will receive an annual salary of £25,557 \- £29,723 per annum.
Candidates are required to have a Legal right to work in the UK and due to the nature of the role, offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks
\#LI\-AB1### What you'll be doing
As our new Healthcare Assistant, your responsibilities will vary. Some of your duties will include:
- Help those with long term conditions by carrying out bloods (venepuncture), observations, NHS health checks etc
- Carry out reception duties \- helping those entering prison, carrying out point of care duties such as blood borne viruses and clinical observations
- Run and assist in clinics such as sexual health and health promotion
- Assist with the administration side of vaccines and immunisations
- Carry out duties within healthcare rooms on the wings
- Assist the wider primary care team as needed

Our new Healthcare Assistant will:
- Hold a Care Certificate and/or NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health \& Social Care
- Have experience within a care setting \- we would love to hear from you if you have experience in the community, care home, hospitals etc
- Any clinical experience would be a bonus \- venepuncture, wound care, observations etc
- Have a non\-judgemental and compassionate approach
