Health Safety and Wellbeing Advisor
About the role
Balfour Beatty is looking for a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our Power Transmission and Distribution team in Scotland.
The role will be based at our Maxim office in Eurocentral; however, it will support the SP Energy Networks (SPEN) portfolio of works and will involve regular site visits and mobile working. The geographical area covered includes Central and Southern Scotland.
The SPEN framework will see Balfour Beatty, alongside seven other contractors, replace and install new 400kV, 275kV and 132kV overhead line conductor systems used to carry electricity across long distances throughout Central and Southern Scotland.
As a Health, Safety and Wellbeing Advisor, you will support the project team in driving HS\&W performance by providing proactive, practical advice and guidance. You will play a key role in helping the SPEN team deliver its Zero Harm objectives, promoting a positive safety culture and ensuring the highest standards of health, safety and wellbeing are maintained across the project.
What you'll be doing
- Fully understand and support delivery of UK HS\&W Strategy.
- Contribute to the implementation, delivery and review of the BU / DU Zero Harm
- Support the delivery of the HS\&W Key Performance Indicators at project \& business level.
- Support work winning teams with quality \& innovative HSWS responses for bids,
- Provide expert support to investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events in
- In conjunction with operational management complete a local and bespoke risk based Service Level Agreement with each project which is kept under quarterly review.
- Undertake regular site inspections as per project risk matrix.
- Produce formal reports using the Project Portal to record planned \& unplanned HS\&W inspections which review project performance against the UK HSWS
- Ensure HSW data is available and reportable to our client on a month basis.

The following qualities/experience are essential:
- Relevant health and safety qualifications
- Willingness to travel
- Experience of complex construction and civils project.
- Ability to influence and promote a positive HS\&W culture.
- Competence in incident investigation.
- Strong understanding of UK Health and Safety Regulatory Framework \& experience in HS\&W Business Management Systems.
- Ability to prepare formal written reports on HS\&W topics.
- Ability to undertake project planning and project management.
- Demonstrates commitment to continual learning to refine, further develop and apply expertise to add distinctive value to customers and Balfour Beatty.
- Ability to engage and converse at all levels.
