The role:

As part of the Vaccination Transformation Programme in Scotland, we have established 5 teams across NHSGG\&C to deliver Childhood immunisations. Health Care Support Workers are required to ensure the smooth running of the community clinics, maintain cold chain procedures, order all stocks and sundries, and communicate regularly with parents and carers. Health Care Support Workers contribute to the safe and efficient delivery of immunisations to children in all areas of the Greater Glasgow and Clyde Health Board. Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:

  • NHS Greater Glasgow \& Clyde, but lLocated predominantly in the Northwest/West Dun

  • Cross\-boundary working within the 5 teams is required at times

  • Monday to Friday
Key responsibilities:
  • Support the delivery of safe, effective and person centred immunisation clinics for babies and young children

  • Assist in the preparation and organisation of clinic environments ensuring they are welcoming and child friendly

  • Provide practical support to families attending clinics including preparing infants and supporting siblings

  • Work collaboratively with nurses and multidisciplinary teams to ensure smooth clinic operations

  • Maintain accurate records and report key information to the Immunisation Nurse Coordinator or team leads

  • Assist with stock control, vaccine storage and cold chain compliance requirements

  • Promote health improvement by signposting families to relevant services and providing basic health advice
Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job:
  • SVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or equivalent relevant experience

  • Ability to work effectively with children, families and vulnerable groups

  • Strong communication skills with a caring, compassionate and respectful approach

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team

  • Basic IT skills including use of email and electronic systems

  • Good organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload

  • Experience of working with children or in a community setting and a valid driving licence is desirable
