Health Care Assistant
Job Title: Health Care Carer – Domiciliary Care
Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Health Care Assistant to join Orcone Care – a growing domiciliary care provider serving vulnerable adults across Birmingham. This role involves visiting people in their own homes and providing high\-quality support that enables them to live independently, safely, and with dignity. The ideal candidate will have a caring nature, excellent communication skills, and a valid driving licence (essential for travelling between service users' homes). This is a paid role offering the opportunity to make a real difference while developing your skills in the community healthcare sector.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
Unlike care home roles where you stay in one building, domiciliary care means you'll travel to different people's homes each day. You'll be the friendly face they trust and rely on.
Your day\-to\-day will include:
- Visiting service users in their own homes across Birmingham
- Assisting with personal care – washing, dressing, toileting, and oral hygiene
- Supporting with mobility and safe moving and handling
- Preparing meals and assisting with feeding where required
- Administering medication (following full training and our policies)
- Providing companionship and emotional support – you'll often be the highlight of someone's day
- Assisting with light domestic tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and shopping
- Accurately recording care provided using our digital care planning system
- Communicating clearly with service users, their families, and our care coordinators
- Driving between visits – a valid driving licence and access to a reliable vehicle is essential
- A genuine passion for caring for vulnerable adults
- Good communication skills in English (written and verbal)
- Ability to work independently – you'll be out in the community, not stuck in an office
- Empathy, patience, and professionalism at all times
- A valid UK driving licence and access to your own car (this role requires travel between service users' homes)
Previous experience in domiciliary care is advantageous but not essential – we provide full training. What matters most is your attitude, reliability, and desire to help others.
